More details about THE QUILT OF MANY HUGS

As most of you Samandans will know, over the last few years Amanda has appeared at a number of Gabit Events and a major feature of those Events has been the fundraising undertaken on behalf of the UK charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

To date over £29,000 has been raised and this has enabled Amanda’s fans to sponsor five hearing dogs, as well as providing additional funds for training and other purposes.

Recently a number of fans have approached Gabit Events to ask how they too can help with raising awareness and funds for Hearing Dogs even though they are not be able to come to Amanda’s next appearance at AT3 in May 2008.

A site has therefore been set up with the aim of raising enough money to sponsor another hearing dog in Amanda’s name,in addition to any fund raising activities for dogs at AT3 itself. It is open to anyone who would like to support the charity so please feel free to be generous.
As well as being able to leave a personal message when you donate, we are also inviting you to send a very special message for Amanda by contributing some fabric towards The Quilt of Many Hugs – a special gift to Amanda to show how much she means to us all.

The quilt will then be presented to Amanda on stage at the AT3 Event as a big collective hug from her many fans around the world.

Hi everyone, I'm not going to be around from Friday for about a week or two as I have to have some urgent surgery.

Spoiler:

I have a detached retina. I woke up this morning and couldn't see out of my right eye. I've spent all day today going from my doctor to a specialist to the eye hospital and I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday. I also have a tear in my left eye as well so they are going to do that at the same time. Hopefully I'll only need to spend overnight in hospital and come home Saturday but I have to lie face down for a week of recovery and I'm not sure how much sight I will regain in my right eye after the surgery. The doctor said I should get most of it back but as with any surgery there are no guarantees.

So everyone cross your fingers and please send some good thoughts my way.

Oh and send some good thoughts to my Mum too 'cos she's looking after me and a bed bound RoX is a bored RoX and a bored RoX is BAD

OUCH! Definitely sending you thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery!! And of course a quick recovery for you and your mom. How soon do you get the bandages off after surgery?

Buy audiobooks. They tend to paint a much better mental picture than regular TV that you can't see while facing down. (Looks like this has been a popular opinion.) Also, May have your mom read Samandan to you once a day for laughs, just stir clear of some threads to keep your BP down
