It is with a heavy heart that I have to say RIP Sid - one of the best writers in the J/D Slash Fandom, who passed away unexpectedly on 15th January...totally unexpected and devastating for all her friends and fans....she had recently had quite major surgery but in her last journal post had seemed upbeat about her recovery...

I never met her but she was one of the best online friends in the fandom that I have ever had.....and I will always remember the excitement when she decided to travel to Calgary Comic Con (I think) and get her Rick and Michael "Sandwich" Photo Op...


I hope her writing will be preserved on the web forever as she was brilliant....

I'm completely devastated. She was my fannish partner in crime.

I'm trying, and failing, to write something over at my journal.

An amazing slash writer (and gen, too) who adored Rick and Michael.

Our corner of fandom has lost someone truly special.

I am irked... ..Fandom bigotry always irks me, but as in the words of the great Jack O'Neill (NOT RDA - I at least can make the distinction of the two in my fangirling ) "Let's not dwell"...let's Thunk the best written pairing both on screen and in fanfic - in my world anyway...friendship or relationship - whatever floats your boat...


I am ashamed I've not spent time on here lately......real life took first place but I've realised that if I don't support my pairing then it will slide back to a place that I don't want it to be...


Oh and a new fic has been added to last year's J/D Ficathon...a pinch hit by PoG it's a stunner, taking up where Daniel returns after that long "English Patient" stint on Jarrod Kane's planet, Icon, Season 8.....Jack knew that situation would get "Squirrelly" and this is his reaction on Daniel's return...NC17 so linking to Ficathon Journal page...

But I really urge die-hard J/D fans to get a DW account if you want to follow up with great artists and writers like Paian, Antares, Jdjunkie, Princess of Geeks, Eilidh & Magnavox....with the passing of the wonderful Sid it's imperative that we keep this fandom supported and those wonderful people who are still doing what they can to give us non-artistic souls such pleasure...


Talking of Sid....there will be a Dreamwidth "Thon" held in honour of her memory on the weekend of 22-23 March....I am sure there will tears, laughter, some old stuff, some new stuff, some borrowed stuff (in my case as I don't write original stuff) but above all it will be filled with LOVE...something that I'm proud to say that the J/D fandom always had, still has and always will have, in abundance <3

Lots of my friends on FB and LJ are celebrating. And quite right too!
You know, the changes in the years since the original film came out are just huge, the general attitude towards LBGT, the end of don't ask, don't tell, now this. It gives me hope that one day our species might become halfway civilised.
