Looking at all of our examples I'd say it could be your version of the Wide Latin font that's the problem. It's pixelating too much, even in the white (but white on dark is so contrasty that type just shows up in white better naturally). If you have a "Bitmap"-type font, you will never be able to fix this. As you say, your Gill Sans Ultra Bold is having less problems and it's not pixelating as much. You could try adjusting the kerning (space between the letters). The closer they are the more they will bleed into each other when you resize and flatten the image.
It could also be your app, as the edges of the blue (the really pixelated parts) are in actuality blurring with the dark background, and this might be how your program rasterizes type. I am only familiar with Photoshop and can't say how other apps do this.
This is obviously no help to you at all! I can only suggest sticking to fonts that work for you best and forgetting the others for now. Or digging into the dreaded "Online Help Manual" for your app. You may find some clues there.
