Hi! Big Ben Browder/Mitchell/Crichton fan hear. Loved reading all the insightful posts and would love to join in the group. Fell in love with Ben's acting last year with Peacekeeper Wars. So impressed i bought all 4 seasons of Farscape and the mini. Better late than never. I've watched StargateSG-1 off and on over the years. Am glad he is on SG-1, great addition. He is the main reason i am watching the show. Friday is almost upon us and Babylon looks like a Mitchell episode. Again, love this site.Mitchell: I like crazy that's why i took this job!

Looking forward to reading your thoughts of his portrayal in Babylon.

Landry looked at Mitchell, who gave him a light nod. Then Landry gave the order. I doubt Landry just wanted to be able to point the finger at someone else if things went bad, so I believe Landry must have valued Mitchell’s opinion. Also, it shows that Mitchell is able to make the hard decisions [as was Teal’c]. This is a part of leadership that can be very hard, but I feel is necessary and a sign of someone that is a very strong leader.

I am amazed whenever I hear that someone catches one episode [even the mini] of a cancelled show and is so inspired they start buying the DVDs! Buying!!! I'm impressed when they are moved enough to rent/borrow/wait anxiously for syndication, but to buy?!?!?! Amazing!
Join in any discussions and start a few yourself. We love discussing our little obsession here!

Originally posted by KasThanks once again for the overview Chillin. Inciteful as ever. Just wanted to pick up that scene you mentioned because once again it was so subtlely done and I agree wholeheartedly with your comment. It is important because it does demonstrate that a Landry, who hadn't known Mitchell, has grown to respect and have confidence in his abilities, to turn to him when necessary before implementing the action. Mitchell may have been gradually introduced but he has always taken appropriate action, made tough decisions and been involved in everything from the start. I'm really enjoying these quiet character 'moments' that he has with everyone that actually really do show his strength and skills.
Anyway, Kas, I agree. "...quiet character moments..." I like that.
and the complete sentence, too:
"I'm really enjoying these quiet character 'moments' that he has with everyone that actually really do show his strength and skills." Definitely. His leadership style, especially with a competent team, is to lead quietly. He is leading, but he doesn't need to whack this group over the head with a two-by-four. He knows when to nudge ["Once upon a time..."] and he knows when something a little sterner is needed ["Let's focus here."]

Just a little snippet from Alex Levine's blog at scifi.com which is adding to my anticipation! Can't wait to see Ben do the Hong Kong Twist!
Originally posted by http://blog.scifi.com/stargate/in Babylon, you get an extra helping of hand-to-hand combat. This is the episode they were shooting when Ben Browder was interviewed at the start of the year and gave all those sound bites about loving the combat stunts. And it’s true – he does do all of the fight stunts himself. He even nailed that Hong Kong Twist in a training sequence in the episode.
No I don’t know what a Hong Kong Twist is. Somebody told me that, and it sounded impressive, so I wrote it down.

Twistin' the night away! Hmmm, could doing the twist BE any sexier?
I know it's probably a wrestling move or something like that, but I'll just keep my little fantasy of Mitchell doing The Twist in my head. Yummmm. In the green uniform. With a little grimmace/grin and his tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth. Thud.
Thanks, Kas, now I guess this briefing package will never get done...

Hey! I'm a newbie to GateWorld. I became a member a few weeks ago but have been mostly lurking until now. Just want to say how much I appreciate you setting up this thread to discuss/appreciate Ben/Mitchell (and Crichton). I'm kind of like Galaxygirl...I began to seriously watch SG1 after Browder (and Black) came on board.
About the Hong Kong twist...I was curious so I googled the phrase and here's what I found:
Hong Kong Twist: A move common in Hong Kong action movies that involves rotating on the bodies vertical axis. The number of rotations and angle of the body can vary. It is usually performed to sell a punch or kick in a fight scene and ends on the ground.
Ooooo man....I can hardly wait to see tonight's show! Yeeeeee haaaaaa!

Welcome TCPike and you're welcome. It's great to get new viewers coming to join in the discussion that are all enjoying the character and Ben's work. Many of us have enjoyed all his past work, some know him from Farscape and many more coming to appreciate his work that are new to the actor from SG-1. It's all kudos to the actor & PTB for making this a really believeable character and really already a massive part of this established show.
Thanks so much for the info on the Twist. It's going to be fantastic to see Ben doing a 'Jean Claude Van Damme'
