Hehehe, yup. Still, it helped make their characters more, umm, 'epic' in that Aeryn has to cope w/ a tragic loss and John then seemingly had to 'live up' to his other, err, self (not to mention what he 'missed out' on as far as relationship-building w/ Aeryn was concerned).

That and it help setup some of the best lines later (the one where John asks Aeryn if she loves 'John Crichton' ).
