As for Sam and Jack being together as a harbinger to the end of the world I would have to dispute that conclusion. You'll notice that the real linch pin of each of these alternate disasters is not that Sam and Jack are together but that SG-1 isn't. Daniel doesn't join the program, Teal'c doesn't rebel, Sam is a civilian who isn't going through the gate and pulling their collective @$$es out of the fire, and Jack is only better off when he has all of his team making him a better man.

Very good point. Very true. Perhaps this is why Moebius has a happy ending? SG1 together against the bad guys, bit rag-tag and jerry-rigged but its SG1!.

No, on a serious note, it could easily just be a coincidence.

I still think the A/U, A/T, A/R, hallucinations-due-to-concussion eps are cruel and a way to torture Sam and Jack - and give us the long awaited kisses, why do the two have to come hand in hand? Every kiss we got had a whole X303 full of angst to go with it. (Moebius is the only exception, it has a different tone to it and was designed to tie everything together - I adore geeky naive Sam, 'I can fix that.')

I'd forgotten Broca Divide, maybe no angst but a whole lot of awkwardness afterwards. That must have been awkward first month or so, acting like cavemen, drinks that made Sam take off her ..., marriage cake and Sam being sold to a war lord.

Oh, the heartbreak when Dr. Carter says "You're really not him, are you?", gets me every time.

I think we see large differences in personallity and action between our Sam and AU Sam. As selene pointed out, AU Sam tends to be more emotional or least less buttoned down than our Sam. Surely some of that is the civilian/military divide. I think there is also something to be said for AU Sam's relationship with Jack making her more confident about her softer side. I think later in the series when we all know our Sam and Jack are together Sam becomes much more like AU Sam. The love of a good man is an enabling and empowering thing, IMHO.

I agree, seasons 9 and 10 Sam is different, softer (which isn't a bad word imo) and perhaps more pragmatic.

The A/U scenarios are like a kick in the teeth for our Sam, every time.
