I can only agree! I really wish I could write, because it looks like no one writes SG-1 fanfic for anything but Sam/Jack and Jack/Daniel anymore.

Sometimes I wish I shipped one of those - or could even stand reading Sam/Jack. Which I can't, the pairing is just to totally incomprehensible and unbelievable for me. I can't see Sam want to be with someone who hates the gut of the Tok'ra, given that she is part Tok'ra herself. Always struck me as a bit like those pairings where a black woman falls in love with a racist, who can accept her for being special, but not accept her kind otherwise

It's funny because I used to be head-over-heels for Sam/Jack when I watched the series some eight to ten years ago. Sam was my favorite character, and I didn't pay much attention to anyone else or any other ship. Now I can't get any feeling out of it because it just feels forced. (Heck, I like Sam/Narim more than Sam/Jack.)

I think, though, that one big reason I'm not into it anymore is the age difference; when I was a kid, I didn't realize how much older Jack was than Sam, but now it's blindingly obvious to me.

When I saw Martouf for the first time during my re-watch, I immediately noticed how positive and bright eyed he was, much like Sam herself, and he's so respectful. He's wonderful.

I don't want to bash S/J, because part of me will always like the pairing that drew me in when I first watched Stargate, but I'm glad that my perspective has changed all these years later. This way I get to experience the whole series in a completely new way because I'm actually paying attention to other characters and their respective storylines now. It's great.

As for the fanfic thing, I know the feeling. The only solution is to start writing it ourselves.

I was happy to see Martouf and Janet again, but I really wish we had gotten more scenes with them. And I really really wish that

1) Lantash had taken control too. I missed him

2) Sam and Martouf/Lantash had been together still in their universe. Couldn't the writers let them stay together and be happy in just ONE universe? So petty

At least I can imagine them together in an infinitude of other universes.

3) That they had been allowed to kiss on screen instead of being interrupted by Kvasir. At least they leave together immediately after, so I assume they went to continue in private

Saaaame. From what I remember of Ripple Effect - and it's been years - we don't really see them talk much with the team. There is so much that they could go into. Seriously, wouldn't you want to know what they've been up to all this time and what it's like being a part of SG-1, which is already so different than how our Martouf and Janet would have probably turned out? (To be fair, I can see Martouf joining, but I didn't expect Janet there. They must have had to do that specifically so she could appear in the episode.)

I totally agree! I can actually see Sam and Martouf/Lantash having a lot in common, and he is always respectful, as you say.

Sadly, I have to agree with Sparky She-Demon here Since he was killed immediately after a Sam/Jack shipper took over the show (well, three-four episodes after), then that would seem the most obvious reason.

In the bonus features of the DVD set of all the seasons, the writers never intended that Sam and Jack were to be together. They explicitly explained that it was not supposed to happened. Okay, now back to the adoration of Martouf/Lantash. Who here would want to be host to Lantash if Lantash was real and why?

I mean, unless I was about to die, I wouldn't particularly want to live with another being inside of me. But then I like privacy.

As for that special feature stuff, did they mean that even by the end of the series they had not encouraged the pairing? I remember from the commentary for Divide and Conquer someone said that it made sense for Sam and Jack to develop feelings for each other since they worked together. I wonder if this is the person Hathor_girl is referring to?

Mallozzi et.al. took over at around the last episode of season 3, and that's who we talked about. He's very much a Sam/Jack shipper and has said that he considers Sam and Jack to have been together since sometime season 8.

But being host to a symbiote in general? Of course! I would volunteer immediately! I can't see why anyone would not want that. To have a friend there that is there always and share everything with you sounds wonderful!
