Audio or Visual Communication through the Stargate?

I don't recall any explanation of how it was possible to communicate through the stargate with radio or video contact without the MALP. Remember the statement "We have radio contact General," or "We have video contact." This was said even BEFORE the iris was opened.
Did the stargate have a microphone or a camera fixed into it during an incoming wormhole even before the iris was opened?

Radio waves passed through the wormhole both ways. Kind of like using a walkie talkie to talk to someone across the room, just that in the middle of the room is an interdimensional conduit.

Even with the iris closed?? That doesn't sound like much protection if an enemy can beam something through the iris (as we know from at least one case involving Anubis).

The technology that anubis used was of ancient design and was the only weapon that we know of that could do that.
Sokar used a particle beam accelerator on the iris which allowed the decay of sub atomic particles to penetrate the iris.

The iris doesn't block radio frequencies. How else would the SGC recieve SG team iris codes?
