Here's a screen cap of General Hammond's wristwatch. The image on the right is a screen cap of James Bond's Rolex Sumariner 6538 in the film "Dr. No"

This one has really got me stumped. The case looks very much like an Omega Seamaster 300, but the dial and bezel look different from any example I've found.

Notice the unique Omega Seamaster lugs on the case where the band attaches.
    Hammond's Watch characteristics:

    1. Rotating Bezel with numerals at 10 minute intervals.

    2. Appears that there are no minute marks between 0 & 15 on the bezel.

    3. Small teeth-like serations on edge of rotating bezel (aka "Coin Edge Bezel").

    4. Watch hour hand appears to have fat/wide portion near tip (possibly a star logo hour hand, aka "Mercedes Hands").

    5. Watch dial appears to have upside-down triangle at 12 O'clock position, long lines at the 6 & 9 markers, date at 3 O'clock marker and round dots at all other hour markers.

    6. There is no Chronometer function.

    7. No case shoulders to protect the crown.

This is a classic dive watch which is immitated mercilessly by Invicta. Timex and just about every other watchmaker have a similar model.

It is very similar, if not genuinely a Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster of unknown vintage.

These type watches appear to have their stylistic roots in the 1953 Blancpain-Fifty Fathoms and especially the 1954 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner 6200 as well as later Submariner models such as 5513.

    Cheap Knockoffs:

Invicta Men's Pro Diver Collection Swiss Automatic Watch #4469

Invicta Men's Pro Diver Collection Coin-Edge Automatic Watch #8926C

Timex Men's Classic Coin-Edged Bezel Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch #T29781.

Orient Men's Automatic Diver Stainless Steel Watch #2ER00001B

    St Moritz Aquamatic II 1M-DV70B0

Ok folks let's just face facts, the only watch one needs is the kind that goes in one's pocket. (Unless you are in an occupation where one's trousers have no pockets.) The wrist watch is for dandies, rakes, and cads.

        Small update:
The cute girl in the last season of Stargate Atlantis--Amelia Banks, wore a Casio G-511D-1AV. Actually her's is a little different. I'm guessing because it's a few years older.

It's a Casio G-Shock--Cockpit Series in the G-511 line and appears to have Red lettering on the bezel as well as case guards extending from the bezel over the crystal.

Very good job with this research! I don't think I'd have the patience to do all this...

            Thanks

I get fixated on something every now and then. Later I suddenly loose interest just as completely as I acquired it.

In the new version of Children of the God's, Brad Wright and Richard Dean Anderson provide a commentary and in the scene where Teal'c grabs O'Neill's wrist and asks him what what he's wearing, RDA says something like "what kinda watch is that? O'Neill is a Suunto man."

I guess RDA forgot that SG-1 wore Casio G-Shocks for the first 3 seasons.

                My previous favorite watch.

                The Armitron Model: 40/8106

                Why?

*-Day of week, day-of-month and time all included in display with no need to press a button.
*-Large, easy to use buttons which are flush to case and do not activate inadvertently.
                *-Water resist to 330 ft.
*-One button press changes from standard to military time.
*-1 alarm, Stopwatch (1/100 & split time), Countdown Timer (from 59min:59sec), Dual Time
                *-Less than 20 bucks.

Trivia note: I bought mine when it was a no-name brand Made-In-China (by E.Gluck Corp.) watch at Walmart for about $12.00. Apparently, slapping the Armitron brand name automatically jacks the price up by $6.00.

                  My current favorite watch.
                  Suunto Vector:

                  Why?
                  Pros:
*-Maybe I can "get in the gate"!
                  *-Lightweight & comfortable on wrist
*-Month, day-of-month, day-of-week, time and barometric trend (by god) all available at glance.
*-many features (altitude, barometer, temperature, compass)
                  *-water resist to 100 ft.
                  *-large, easy-to-read display
                  *-eye catching >50mm diameter.

                  Cons:
*-No Dual Time or Multiple Timezones
*-Need to press and hold Mode button for 2 full seconds before backlight will light-up.
                  *-Alarm sound barely audible.
*-Buttons are outcropping and can be inadvertently pressed.
*-Water resistance is forfeited if buttons are pressed during water exposure and since inadvertent pressings are very possible, watch really is NOT water resistant.
*-Consumers report buttons getting caught on things and being ripped off.

Available for about $150.00 online if you shop around.

                      Here's Rodney Mckay's watch from Season 5-18-Identity

                      ;

It appears to be a Suunto X6M. It could be a Suunto G6 but that is a golfing watch whereas the X6M is a hiking, mountaineering oriented watch like the Vector.

                        World's ultimate "No Fuss" watch.

Any one of Casio's "Tough Solar" and "Atomic" combo watches, such as:

                        Casio Men's G-Shock Solar Atomic Watch #GW700A-1V

                        Why?
                        *-Solar powered. Never replace batteries
*-Receives Atomic time signal from Ft.Collins, CO 4 times per day, so it never needs adjusting. (60Hz AM radio band Atomic time signal may not reach all areas of USA such as far North East, NH, ME etc.)
                        *-Tough, shock resistant
                        *-Water resist to 660 ft.
*-Auto EL backlight (turns on automatically when it's dark and when the watch is oriented as when holding in front of your face. No button press needed!)
*-PowerSave feature with Sleep & Hibernate modes.

                        Cons:
*-Buttons are difficult to press with man fingers.
*-Dated design (small diameter, small display & small readout).

                        More Details

*-Very difficult to press buttons to set time/date.
