Odyssey, Enterprise, Defiant, Daedalus, and almost every other ship name in Stargate, Star Trek, or most other series or movies are too generic to be copyrighted or trademarked.

If I created a ship with a name that was completely unique then it could be trademarked or copyrighted. Even a name that was sufficiently little-known could maybe get a trademark or copyright.

As it stands though, most of the names chosen have been in circulation for hundreds if not thousands of years.

They names it after the USS.Enterprise in Star Trek. They had the crew of Star Trek Enterprise and the majority of the crew of the various shows there for it

It's a Deep Space Carrier (DSC) Or like the 303 a Battlecruiser (BC)
        This isn't Atlantis?
        I don't think so.
If this is not the Lost City…then where is it?

Are those the designations? Like F-302, F=Fighter? If so, is there a designation for Battleships?

There was also a USS Prometheus in Star Trek Voyager.

Daedalus is USS Daedalus and its a "DSC-304" type ship. I could have sworn that Apollo had a different prefix (Something-304) but I can't find any source on it.

Isn't Daedalus USAF Deadalus, as it says USAF on the side. Or can it be both?

I could have sworn that the bridge plaque on in "The Daedalus Variations" said USS.

Okay, now that we've confirmed that I'm not delusional, let's continue:

USAF is a designator of the owner of the ship. For instance, the original 1701 Enterprise bore the words "United Federation of Planets". USAF isn't a part of the name of the ship.

                          USS Odyssey:

                          Yes it is.

Look, why does it really matter? The ship is cool and it kicks ass. What more do you want?
