My issue with "Off The Grid"

Okay, I was watching the episode called "Off The Grid" and I was enjoying the episode, and then I was totally shocked at what happened next. The team had been captured (which is nothing new) tied to a bench, but then the bad guys started hitting Cam, which I thought was a little funny since he kinda had it coming. Then after another scene, we come back to the team, and they're all bloody including , and I was shocked, I could not believe they hit her, she's a woman for crying out loud. Of course we never actually see them hit her, but still. And we cut to another scene, come back, and she's even more bloody and bruised, along with the other guys. I mean we've seen her get smack around before, like in Death Knell, but I've never seen her get beaten with the other guys. I mean she was all sweaty, dirty and bloody. seriously, those guys were total a$$holes for that. And why didn't , or say something about hitting a woman? If Jack was there he would have done something. But like I said before we only saw the Cam, and Daniel get hit, not her, probably since it's a PG rated show. but I still can't believe they beat her like they beat Cam, Daniel and Teal'c. Teal'c although is used to it, after all we've seen him take these past 10 years. Anyway that was just wrong, at least SG-1 won, and the bad guys lost their Stargate. here's some screen-caps from that episode to show you what I mean-

First time we see them tied up-

Other planets? If a woman in the army is caught by their enemy she'll get treated just as bad as the men here on Earth. If they're going to beat people for information I doubt they care if its a man or a woman.

yeah certainly they wouldn't care about carter. they wanted information and they were the bad guys. you can't expect any less. Besides as for Cam, Dan and Teal'C speaking up, they know that Carter is a seasoned military officer who is trained to cope with that sort of thing. remeber the number of times she's been tortured using a hand device or jaffa pain stick. And that would be far more painful than what those guys were doing to her.
Please do me a huge favour and help me be with the love of my life.

I don't think it's as much of an issue of somebody hitting carter as it is Mitchell not preventing it, or at least getting pissed off about it.

She's a trained military officer. And that was no place for chivalry. It would just give the bad guys a weakness to exploit, getting her/whoever they try to protect noticed and focused on.

Yeah I gotta say this topic doesn't make any sense. So Mitchel didn't break his binds and start kicking ass? Big woop. We don't know what he said or didn't say when they were hitting her. Seriously I think someones taking their Carter crush a little to far in this topic.

I agree, plus I think Carter wouldn't want/appriciate it... She made a point in the very first epp that she could handle anything that the group of men could (and went on with "Just because my reproductive organs are on the inside instead of the outside doesn't mean I can't handle...") And Sam Carter's not the kind of woman to shed a tear over a broken nail/split lip...

i have no issue with cameron not jumping to sam's defense. Like others have said, show a protective streak towards someone and all you do is make them moer of a target. It's bad tactics

my issue was that they wouldnt' have been in the situation in the first place had mitchell curbed his enthusiasm and not put them in danger.

and, ok, he had to do that for the plot device.

but no one calls him on it? no one says 'thanks for getting us into trouble, new guy'

(well that and the super duper dry cleaner of the beam up. )

I cant believe there are people that still think that women are weak and need " mens " protection?

It's aprt and parcle imo of the feminist movement. Equal rights, etc but men should still put out to help/defend a woman.

Maybe if they are pregnat, then yea, i see a good reason behind that statement. But if you are going out on a dangerouse missions and a member of your team in a need of constant help or defence, perhapes it would be easyer to find a better replacment, ruther then runing in to a risk of compromising the mission.

All they are really doing is not treating women different from men. I mean women are not better then men nor are men better then women. Shes military for crying out loud!

Plus she could find it offensive because she may think she doesn't need protection. Shes not the

i don't think it's as much cam worrying about not offending sam as it is sound tactics. show weakness - such as in 'don't hurt her' all of a sudden 'her' will become the target of any actions because tehy know that she's a weakness.

the only way you can 'protect' others in a situation like that is to do what jack used to do, antagonize the meanies so that they focus on you instead of the others. that's why jack would make smart aleck comments, to draw attention to himself instead of the others
