I recently saw the DVD edition of "Children of the Gods", and was shocked and amazed to see full frontal nudity in it (Sha're is fully exposed when Apophis is choosing her to be his bride).
Now, I'm not some reactionary conservative type; I've nothing particuarly against nudity (and face it, Sha're did look good), but I just don't get the point of it. As far as I'm aware no other episode has got anything above a 12 rating. SG-1 always seemed to be a relatively family-friendly show to me.
Why, then, the nudity in the pilot episode? It just seemed so out of place. Was SG-1 originally planned to be a soft porn series, and the writers changed their minds at the last minute? Or was it some cunning way to get teenage boys hooked on the show?
I'd be interested to know the reasons behind this...
