Maybe it could be along the lines of a communications terminal, but obviously advanced, maybe the hub of a multigalactic subspace communication system, in the void or something. It looks very satalitish to me.sigpic

Deacelerating to a stop halfway, then building up all that speed up again takes longer than doing it in one go.
