We're not descendants, we evolved into an almost similar species

Also, living organisms can't devolve. Evolution isn't a straight line you can't go foward or back, it's about adaptation. Otherwise the Asgard are the most devolved little things in the galaxy which isn't true. Anyway it just so happens that we humans have adapted in an environment possibly very similar to the Alterans exaplining our resemblence.

If The Alterans had created a species exactly as them ,then human would just be clones of Alterans ,instead the Alteran had started from the beganning , probably stated from Apes and done something to make sure a species will come out similar to them

The human were the creation of the Ancient, they seeded the Earth with their DNA , and their plan was a species will evolve into similar the Alterans ,
So far the human species seems to follow the same path as Alterans ,but human is not quite as advance as the Alterans yet,but we are getting there.
It is possible something can still go wrong, like the Wraith, until human become as advance as the Ancients and still look the same(still keeping the human look), i can't be sure we will turn out exactly like the Ancient

the species evolved independantly, the decentant part only came in to it when the ancients from PG returned and spread their geneticly enhanced DNA in to our species, we are completly seperate, we may or may not be able to exolve and gain powers/enlightenment the way they did therefore people like oma feel that they should help the beings that a closest to them, geneticly/physically and evolutionary.
so no were not decended from them but we are the closest to them in terms of appearence and stuff, plus we have the gene from them ect, and daniel was one of them ( shouldnt he have the gene form being ascended?)
