That's a good point Skadi! What do people think?? I want to agree that the genetic memory does mature that young symbiote, he knew what kind of trouble he was getting into, if they're old enough to kill, I wanna say their old enough to be in a relationship. In the old games I have "huge age difference" intead of "kidship" which was to prevent ships like Harmony/Rodney but then it came to mention Ba'al/Adria... which is kinda disturbing if you consider the age difference (1 year vs. 100+ years) but generally others accept it because Adria has been artificially matured... but if it bothers anyone, I can take it down, it just happens to be my favorite Ba'al ship (tho as you can see, I like several). And even now, we don't know the age difference of some of these Goa'auld... I think it's a question of if the individual is old enough not to let themselves be taken advantage of, and I think Kawalsky's put up a good fight for one who is just an "infant"! What do others think??
I agree that the genetic memory will give them knowledge that in many ways mature them more than otherwise. If nothing else, they already know about sex, and as you say, if they are old enough to protect themselves against being taken advantage of (and old enough to kill...), then they will be fine. And I am pretty sure all but the littlest Goa'uld/Tok'ra can do that
I think we should forget about that age-difference thing as well, because Ra for instance is well over 10000 years, and I've read Kali is older. It would make it hard to pair them up with anyone - even Tok'ra, as the oldest of those is 2000 years. And they don't seem to mind themselves - Apophis is probably at least 6-7000 years old, and Amaunet was fresh from the pouch. Since Ba'al is based on babylonian myths (I think) he is as old as Apophis or more.
So I am fine with say Ba'al/Adria. Let's just go with 'mature enough to take care of themselves', which they are all perfectly able to
Oh, and if anything, Ba'al is the one who has to take care in that relationship. Adria has the knowledge of the Ori, and they are at least 10 million years old
And by the way, I just remembered that Ra/Hathor is canon - she calls him 'my father and husband' So we should probably forget about rules against incest as well - at least for the symbiotes.
ok, so Hathor's newborn baby goa'ulds are out... but how would you pull out one to ship with anyone anyway? Human minors are out. Yikes, yeah mythology does complicate the incest rule. Lets make sure the humans(hosts) aren't so closely related.
