Bad News: Most of it is salt water. Salt water causes the human body to dehydrate rapidly - and if enough is ingested, die.

Good news: The wood from the destroyed villages is used to distill the water to drinkable form.

Bad News: Areas that can't distill their own water are getting gouged by bottled-water companies.

You can either build a fire to heat the salt water and use leaves to collect the steam where it will condence into water again, purified. OR, you can use saw dust, ground up wood, as a filter. Just like they use sand to filter the water in pools.
