    The Stargate: Horizon CG Thread

Hey, all! My name's Nicholas Hall, and I've been working on some CG for Stargate: Horizon. All of the following are Works In Progress for the time being, but they're quickly moving to completion. So, without further ado -- I'd like to show you all what I've got so far.

    First off, Horizon's Stargate:

    Which is about 65% complete.

Next, a redux of my Vorian control-console design some of you may have seen a few years ago:

And last, but not least, the Horizon Station:

Horizon is about 70% complete. I'll be starting the Spacegate and some of the ships shortly. I've already been working on some interior views, but I need to scrap them and start over on those.

From a fellow 3d modeler I'd like to say that's some very nice work. I really like the overall look of the station especially.

        Your very welcome

Yes I did and it gives me a few extra ideas for an ancient outpost I want to start.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Also, I'll post linkies to the renders from now on, so they don't have to be sized down. Sorry!

Well, it took my render machine two hours to render, but I've got a test animation of the station rendered -- you can find it here: YouTube - horizonanimatic3

Small little update on the station -- added some details inspired by an awesome concept sketch sent to me by Choo1701 today. The model is parked at about 192891 polygons right now, so I thought I'd go ahead and post a quick wireframe also.

And I've decided to scrap the gate and start over -- as some of the details I wanted to model in can't be modeled in the right way at this point. I'll be starting on that probably tomorrow night.

Here we are! Added the Vorian governmental logo to the Dorsal docking ramps, some detailing around the reactor area, and modeled in some details around the top of the control tower.

For anyone that's interested, the poly count is at 204931.

[EDIT] Frak, I just realized I still need to fix the mesh errors on some of the Docking Pincers -- That's gonna be fun.

[QUOTE=nhall;10479547]... and I've been working on some CG for Stargate: Horizon. ...

Hej! nhall. Great work you are doing with SGH, specially with the station. My name is Jorge and I'm also working on a SG 3D. Now I'm modeling the entire SGC (Gate room, control, conference and general's room, corredor's elevators etc)as soon I have some photos an animation test, I post here or in a new thread.

But, what's is your idea, just modeling or animate some eps? I start 3d with animation in mind and SGH was my first Joice because they have the script (of course I would ask to Horizon's people if they don't mind to use their material). I'm not sure yet, but maybe we could cooperate something in the future

The software I use is Blender, what is yours?

                        regards

Well, I'd like to eventually animate a few of the vis-effects sequences shown in "Awakening" - "Connection" - etc. I'm using lightwave 9.3 -- I don't really know about compatibility with Blender, though. I'm definitely always willing to cooperate with fellow CG artists, though -- I know Horizon could always use more artists.

So - on to tonight's update -- I've done some more detailing around the upper part of the control tower - I think I'm going to call that area complete. I moved down the tower a little ways and did some detailing there, as well. I hope you all enjoy!

I remember that I did offer my help to the project a year or so back but that is when it went on hiatus and I just don't have the free time I used too.

Good to see another lightwave user.

Blender can import/export *.lwo file format, I never use , so I don't know if I import something it will keep all the ligths, textures, animation keys, etc. The same if exported from Blender , if Lightwave will open it properly. Anyway, there is some compatibility between both.

For now, I want to finish my SGC and put the Gate "working".

I'll follow your work, and in the future let's see what we could do.

                              cheers
