    [QUOTE=Amann;13304842]
Still, would be an interesting interaction, especially if Amann is in the TNG era. Amann would be contemptuous of the Federation I would think, if for no other reason than their softness. Alesian government is.....closest to the Romulans, with hints of the Cardassians. More Romulan-ish than anything, with the Roman tendencies and the Romulan Imperial Senate very comparable to the Lower Council of Alesia. Amann isn't the most open minded of people when it comes to government and idealogy. He'll accept military and political tactics when it suits him to do something outside the box, but his way of running things is.....in his mind, the best way to do it.

On the other hand, he shuts out idealogy that could benefit his people, and doesn't always make him friends. In some ways, this might be a good thing, since he also shuts out idealogy that could harm his people. But Amann can be abrasive when it comes to his people. In an upcoming scene with Thor, Amann and our favorite Asgard argue heavily on the matter of Alesian expansion and the reasons for the war, plus the Goa'uld existence. Amann in the new version is more......sarcastic....and a bit of a prick. I did it deliberately to give him a bit more character, and showcase more realism to a character like Amann. Every strong willed politician has a side that is abrasive and can be nasty. And since Amann was a former military officer and has those traditions and attitudes ingrained in him, he is more abrasive than most in his management style.
    QUOTE]

Interesting; yes the Romulan Senate is very belligerent and power-hungry. They don't exactly play nicely. The Romulans do seem, or at least one does, to be trying to improve relations with their galactic neighbors tho by the time of TNG and the Nemesis movie.

Amann will be even more of a prick than he is in GD 11.0--well, he'll be more annoying most of the time and more amusing sometimes. Being ex-military explains that he's so abrasive. Although in the US we've had a gooid number of ex-military presidents, and they weren't necessarily so abrasive. Altho Andy JAckson definitely was and Grant could be when defending the actions of the crooks in his adminstration. Tho don't strong-willed politicans tend to be more abrasMaybe not necessarily. Interesting how Thor is current military as well as concurrently serving on the Asgard High Council, but he's gernreally much less abrasive than Amann. Maybe an Asgard personality trait. Altho Thoir can also be extremely scary when he's pissed off and his opponents better heed him. he was abel to go head-tohead with Amann by being equally nasty. Wouldbe amusing if Freyr dealt with Amann b/c Freyr can sometimes be the polar opposite of Tho in generral. Freyr and Amann would probably scare the courasge out of some people with them bickering so fiercely. :-D

So Amann actually tries to oust Moros and the rest of ther Council by using force rather than by outarguing them--interesting.

Indeed, we can't. We don't know the limits of the Ascended, but I don't think they are full on omnipotent or at least, not on the scale that Q are (Q aren't true ones either....but i think more so than Ascended).

Stargate as a setting itself stomps Star Trek though.....in terms of power. Even Goa'uld stuff is better. More powerful weapons, more mobile, and much faster hyperdrive. Never mind higher end stuff like Asgard and Ancient stuff.

I remember discussing a possible scenario where a few Alesian ships get stuck in the Star Trek universe. I dismissed any possibility of it working simply on how bad Alesian ships would stomp the local powers. I imagined something like 2 Angelans being the first appearance in Wolf 359 right between the two fleets, thereby getting fired on by both sides. The Alesians prepare to deliver a one sided stomp to the Borg and Federation. It was amusing for an hour or so when talking with AoA about that.

The Borg would get stomped and eaten by the replicators. Hard. The only way Star Trek could win is by zerg rush. Stargate fleets are relatively tiny while large fleets are in the hundreds for Star Trek. Although.....when you got ships that can solo entire feets.......who knows. Depends on who it is....Ancients just drone swarm numbers, Asgard show Federation how beaming tech is done, Goa'uld.......probably lose quite a bit, but win.

On Amann himself.....well Amann isn't always a prick. But he can have a nasty side to him. Amann pretty much thought the negligence of the High Council was sufficient to overthrow. Strangely enough, just thought of it in context. Amann overthrowing the Council with his current ideals is much like the Founding Fathers. Overthrowing bad or corrupt rulers in favor of a new government. The Founders advocated that heavily, hence the push of the 2nd Amendment.

Amann nearly succeeded too, and would have if the key man in the operation didn't betray him. He managed to get the supreme commander of the Lantean Fleet on his side, but it was a trick. The Commander was loyal and whipped out his weapon and turned it on Amann, and therefore most of Amann's loyal forces were still loyal to the Council when that happened. Had Amann succeeded, it would be doubtful the Wraith would have won at all. The Ancients lost the war due to arrogance and incompetence. Sending single ships without escort into Wraith territory with no thought of what to hit. They lacked mission objectives or a cohesive strategy. The Wraith didn't. Even an inferior enemy can defeat a superior one if the superior one is careless and the inferior one determined enough to win. Amann would have kept groups of ships together, using superior speed to zoom around any concentrations of Wraith fleet he couldn't handle, and destroy Wraith infrastructure like shipyards, clone labs, isolated groups of ships......

I'd agree with you to a good extent that Stargate generally stomps Star Trek in terms of power. I do think there are a few exceptions tho when considering non-Q and non-Ascended. There were the Ancient Humanoids that seeded humanoid life about little over 3 billion years ago. Then there were the Iconians, who created the Iconian Doorway, who some fans of both serieses consider more advaned than even the Stargate. Then there were the Organians who 'ascended' millions of years ago. As well as the T'cherks or some name like that, who were able to move A SUN--GOSH out of their solar system and move a sun into theri solar system to replace it. They also created 'Guardians', who could move an entire Enterprise-class vessel. Tho problem is, very few of these races left their tech around for the later inhabitants of the galaxies to be able to use lol.

You make a good point, one can indeed argue that Amann thought he was overthrowing a corrupt and/or negligent goverment. After all, Moros seemed to monopolize power on the High Council and he certainly didn't lead the Lanteans to win against the Wraith.

The Commander who threatened to shoot Amann must've really believed in the current High Council or didn't like Amann very much.

He had a strong sense of loyalty to the Council, even if he actually did agree with Amann on certain things. He felt rotten betraying him, but he thought that Amann's way wasn't the right one. So while he disagreed with how the Council did things, he still believed in the entity and couldn't condone Amann's actions.

              Two items.

Firstly, I was addressing an issue of plagiarism when I found out about it with a certain story that I won't mention. As I was doing that, I started to assess whether I'd ever done anything I would consider plagiarism. And while I can't say I've really even come close to doing so teechnically, I still like to give credit when one deserves it even in the slightest. So I wanna acknowledge here that I got inspired to develop a Furling military rank for my Tauri-Furling series, Phylae commanding a Phylang of slightly over 6000 soldiers, when I read your Golden Dawn quite a while ago and noticed you had the rank of Legate who commands a Legion. I know that you didn't invent the rank, but you did standardize the command strucure of always 5000 legionnaires to a legion always. Anyways, I wouldn't have thought of making the semi-general-officer rank if you hadn't done that, so I credit you with that. Here is its relative rank below.

Furling Unified Republic Terrestrial Enagagement Service (TES) General and Semi-General Officer Lowest to Highest:

              Phylae
              Quarternary General
              Tertiary General
              Secondary General
              Primary General
              Marshal
              High Marshal

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Secondly, I wanted to write a scene in which Il'ras, the Furling Republic's High Consul (got the name Consul from my imagined older Alterran politcal position) is meeting with Amann to resolve a dispute and they're practicing some really hardball politik. Il'ras used to be the Supreme Warfare Officer (equiv of US Chairman of Joint Chiefs) and he's considered one of the greatest of the great Furling warriors, so he's got a very courageous personality too and can be equally abrasive in respone to Amann being abrasive. I just wanted to share this and will not ever even publish of course unless you approve. Will share in next post.

I'd be happy to co-write a scene with you. With my school nearly over and all that is left are a few exams, ill be able to devote much more time to writing. The last few weeks been hectic and prevented an update.

Cool, man! That would be really awesome! Yeah--ironically, when sessions are almost over at this time of , students tend to face much more rigorous work needing to do such as final exams and final papers. Yeah that'll do it--fans of GD 2.0 and your other stories who know you're cuirrently trying to complete your last work for this portion of the semester should take it easy with their expecations for another update and they probably will. Fanfic fans tend to be patient, reasonable people lol.

I'll post my imagined scene in the next post and you can feel free to edit it as much as you want, especially the Amann diaologue lool b/c you defintiely know best how Amann would react; I definitely doin't wanna portray Amann at all to be more abrasive than he actually is. And if you feel that posting it here is bad timing now, please let me know and I'll erase my post immediately lol, while PMing you any later revised content on my part. Please do take your time and not ffel rushed to work on this as I know yopu're still trying to put out GD 2.0 chapter 2 .

                                Hello folks. I'm back.

Been thinking more abouta possible crossover between Golden Dawn and Tauri-Furling series. I'd actually written out a very tentative scene in which Amann and co are negotiating with Il'ras and co. However, I pressed submit and didn't succeed at actually posting the content b/c of a timeout. No big loss; I restarted, and I couldn't get Amann in character so well lol.

Anways, I'm listing adn describing major T-F Series characters we can work with in the future.
