So...I have the situation where my mind is overflowing with scenes for my fic (including some nice details), but when I sit down to write, I'm simultaneously overwhelmed by the enormity and frozen with worry about the minute details...

When that happens, your best bet is probably to just write out the basic scene ideas and a few notes about the details you want to include, and then at least none of them will fall out of your brain and be lost. Then you can go back and actually write the scenes with a bit less worry because at least you know that you've already jotted down the stuff you came up with. Yep, just writing down some notes is what I do too. Even if it's just something like:
Jack -> house -> [action] -> [line]

I just wanted to make a quick post before I go to bed. I'd been spending quite a bit of this late night working on a chapter in Broken Silence when I started listening to this music. Instead of ending a section in the chapter with what I had intended, listening to that music while writing made me come up with something far better than what I originally outlined months ago. The result was wonderfully spontaneous and poignant at the same time. I am incredibly thankful I have Murray Gold's Doctor Who series 6 soundtrack.
