It really has some great fic, I enjoyed it last summer for sure

This story is a fav of mine but is an ADULT FIC. It's subject matter deals with rape and the aftermath and shouldn't be read by anyone under 18!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! It's a nice long h/c fic, however the summary doesn't give any clue about the story or subject matter.

I'm waiting to read her My Andromeda and My Perseus untill they are finished. She hasn't updated in a while but I'm hoping she will carry it on.

I didn't know she was writing new fic. Alea Iacta Est made a big impact on me when I first read it. It's a impressive story. Don't forget it's SJ shippy too.

OMG...when I first read that I was almost crying along with Sam...that is a very powerful, emotionally charged story....pretty violent but IMHO, very well written...thanks for linking it for everyone else...I already have it bookmarked!!!
There's another not so nice, violent sort of story that I cried over...it's called Mata Hari by Telkena...for me the saddest part was in chapter 5...I'll put it in spoilers...it is adult rated so not for young ones!!!

Awww. You read Tels fic? She claims to write PWP, but I usually find she does has plot. Just a lot of, well, you know, too I think she writes great stories, if you like that sort of thing. Lately she´s been uninspired/lazy, so we´re trying to get her going again Ohh, and all SJ shippy too! For those who don´t like it.


I used to only read SJ stories, but I think I´ve read almost all of them by now. So I´m venturing in Sam focused stories too. But, as a shipper, I just have trouble with it when Jack and Sam act like there´s nothing between them (not meant to start a discussion about this, it´s just, I see something there, I know others don´t). How do other shippers deal with just-Sam stories? And any recs that aren´t to painfully gen?

i just end up reading a ton of ship fic because Gen Sam fic is very, very hard to find. shippers are the only ones that really write sam while the more gen crowd focuses on Jack or Daniel

That makes sense. The Sam fic I read, did have a liiiiitle bit of ship in it, so probably wouldn´t be considered gen.

I never even tried Daniel or Jack stories, nor do I feel the need to try lol.

I can handle different Sam ships in fics, Sam/Jack is definitely a favorite, but I don't mind reading Sam/Teal'c, Sam/Ba'al (The Way...series handle that one wery well), Sam/Other, I've even found some well writen Sam/Janet fics.

You're right Sky gen fic is very hard to find.

Ship is a funny thing isn't it? So many people are either for it, or against it. And I've heard many say they will only read one or the other. I used to prefer only Sam non ship... but eventually realized how many well-written stories there were I was missing because they had ship.

And then, when I started to write, I found out how hard it was to exclude ship entirely, especially when half of the readers if not more were clamoring for ship in some way shape or form. I've actually tried a few ship stories, and I seem to fail utterly at them, generally ending in UST (and pissing off all the shippers readingm most of the hard core shippers won't read my stuff anymore). I'm finally starting to think the ship has left without me.. but as you say here, it's really hard to find non ship Sam fic.

So I guess I'll keep trying to write without ship! I think my latest is getting there, but it helps to have asked two betas' to pre-read, one a die hard Daniel fan with an S/D slant, and the other an S/J shipper all the way! Despite that I've already had one request for Sam and Jack to get together at the end of the story. Unfortunatly, since Sam is in the body of a child... ah, well. No. I'm thinking the ship sank.

Anyway, so as not to drag too far off topic... (and when am I going to find the time to read all these wonderful suggestions? fortunately, I've read a few... and Hairy Situation sounds familiar too...)

Imbroglio
by dietcokechic PG. Not very shippy, though I read it a long time ago.

Deadly Legacyby Sally Reeve and Marcy PG. Have read this one more than once, mild ship. Nice and Loooong.

And lastly, Woman's Work by admirial. Sam get's separated from her team so it's probably about as Sam focused you can get. Rated T so tha's like what, PG or PG13? There's lots of violence and whump. Yay whump.

(for self proclaimed Sam fans we sure do love to whump her don't we?)

the hardest thing about 'no ship' is that everyone's ship meter is set differently. some see friendship as too much and too shippy, for others, unless it ends with a marriage/proposal/sex it's not ship

I personally have no issue with acknowledging that they are very close friends, and might be more by now, but i don't think i'll ever write sam and jack knocking boots in seasno two. they just don't act that way so i can't see them that way

My thought's exactly! But at least I can say I tried! (Even if I couldn't even make them kiss without alien influence... and forget about the happily ever after with 2.5 kids and a dog)

As for those oversensitive ship meters... People will see ship where they want to, whether or not you intended it. But hey, as long as they enjoy the story right?

Don't believe I've read the Sam/Tok'ra ones. Will definitely bookmark.

And I can't say enough about "The Hidden One". Probably one of the best, if not the best Sam fic I've ever read. It was a sad day in Stargate land when Gracie put away her keyboard.

i was reading roundelay when it was a WIP...and it sucked when it took her mo nths to finish it

Roundelay is one of the best I've read and I so wish she had written more, but if wishes where horses as they say......

I do like reading Sam/Jack but define myself as a Sam fan, so enjoy reading all well written Sam fics. I've seen many people, shippers mostly, say thing like "I can never see Sam with Daniel ect" but as long as the relationship is written well, I don't mind her being paired with anyone.

I think it's b/c you know the ship is there, it plays an immportant role in the character interaction, but it's not thrown around and it doesn't take over the story. Off course, the Ba'al in that story is slightly different than to one on the show, which helps.



I was wondering if someone has come across a Sam/Mark fic that deals with her leaving for Atlantis. I'm assuming she would have to tell him something and say goodbye.
I've read a few of those, but they are all about Jacob's funeral, and they are all Sam/Jack ship. While I like that, I wanna see some nice brother-sister moments, just the two of them.
