True. I forgot to add "for thousands of years" to what I said. At work and got a call when I was replying to the thread.

Heck a ZPM could power a small star

no that's overdoing it. it can "only" utterly destroy a planet

The ZPM Camulus had could in Carter's theories have destroyed most of the solar system. That'd have to be an explosion of astronomical size, perhaps not the same as a small M Class star but definitely several orders of magniture stronger than anything we can make ourselves.

But Camulus' ZPM was tainted with a foreign substance.

And i'm sure that foreign substance exponentially increased its power source

It's like covering C4 in blasting caps. The caps may set it off, but its not like they add much to the explosion.

well you need 10^33 joules to have the particles that make up earth overcome their gravity potential energy.

but to blow up a planet from the surface requires more energy. hence why it would destroy quite a lot.

I'd green you but evidently i need to 'spread more around."

Yes, it would require a tremendous amount of energy to do that. Perhaps a list of how different things are calculated. Like comparing the energy potential in a ZPM to a Mark 9 (or rather a large cluster of mark 9s )

well Mark IX and ZPM's have the same problem: exact data is missing and the energy depends on who you ask.

some say the Mark IX is 816 GT. some say the Mark IX is 136 GT. some say the mark IX is 1-10 GT. all we know is, it's called the STIG.

Okay I have the TOTAL power of a ZPM
                              This is "unofficial" okay?

The power of a ZPM is a "shxt loada" Joules

Camuls' ZPM was 'only' half full, I think I read some where. Dr. Lee said the entire planet would go boom if it was set off, Carter said the entire system. But as I said, that's with a half full one. If it was to be one that's fully charged... And, yeah, I know, a ZPM's power out put is the exactly same until it reaches maximum entropy... I think...
