Talk to me when you get to my age. I't no fun to see a group of young guys turn up for duty after a night out and your ship is under sailing orders and these guys just screw everything up for everybody else, and can't pull their weight. Like I said, booze is fine in moderation, there are better things to do with your life than getting wiped out on grog (or other things).
As for doing something while the weather is nice? God's man what planet are you on. Not all of us live in the Northern Hemisphere, it's currently 11 deg C here in Sydney, and though we don't get winters like you in Europe or North America, it's uncomfortable enough if you have to work in a non aircon environment. Not all of us forum members are school kids, some of us actually work.

The sailors are the ones to blame for that, not the alcohol, not every one handles themselves horribly the morning after. and 11 degrees is the best time to go outside and play a game of soccer =) thats not that uncomfortable at all, im not exactly sure what that is in fareinheit but its definately a lot more than freezing, which is 0 in celcius. if its above 45, then perfect soccer weather, not too hot so u can play forever. And i balance a job, school, and sports so i keep myself plenty busy and dont really find time to get smashed often.

That WAS my point. It's the dweebs holding the bottle/glass/can who are to blame, always. But servicemen in general are reknown for drinking inexcess, they use it as an excuse, for an otherwise boring life they have, when we are not actaully in a war zone.
Living in a sub-tropical country, you acclimatise to long hot summers. In Sydney, we virtually have about 2 weeks of Spring (Sept 1st), and then Summer weather until late May, early April. So yes 11c, does feel very uncomfortable to me, when you're working in a non-heated factory, or on a building site for 10-12 hours a day.
And yes it's great for winter sports, but not everyone has the time for it.

July is traditionally a rainy month where I live. Not that I'm home now, but my point is that not everyone experiences sunshine and hot weather right now.

And i no that some of you are against getting drunk, but that is just because you are too young to have tried it

I'm 24, and have never tasted alcohol. I don't intend to, either.

Maybe he'll take the rest of the summer off and have some fun. When the next chapter comes, it comes and until then there are other things to occupy my attention.

I sure hope not. If he does not want to do the Atlantis continuation that is fine with me. He has written a lot of stories and I am grateful for that. I would ask though that he finish the SG-1 continuation.

Yeah I saw it on Tuesday. I was pleasently surpised by what Brad decided to do. I was kind of nervous when I first heard they were going to re-cut it, but after seeing it, I liked it. It felt a lot smoother with the new soundtract and CGI. Although I was kind of sad when they cut out one of my favourite lines (the MacGyver reference) but I could see how they wanted to keep the two shows separate.

I'm really glad though that they fixed the whole cargo/glider ship from the end of the pilot. It made a lot more sense to have
