M101 galaxy which is one of the nearest giant spiral galaxies - it has a diameter of 200 thousand light years. That would be about twice the size of the MW.

The sombrero galaxy has 800 billion stars and MW has 200-400 billion stars.Andromeda has 1 trillion stars there 2 galaxys I know of

and the supergate was for INSTANTAENEOUS travel. so for all we know they can simply crank their h/drive up to max and get here trhough hyperspace. but they wanted to be here straight away so sent in the supergate(s) [ one failed]
