          They're called "The Outlaw Chronices" and they're written by Angus Donald.

              If you are looking for info on the period, Osprey publishing do ALOT of books covering various times. You could also check out historical Tabletop Wargamer sites as the peeps there are extremely well versed on the subject.

                If you want it to be historically accurate, that is. If it's only Game of Thrones accurate, you have more freedom in things.

                        Well, pretty much anyone with military training will have a knife somewhere, and probably a dagger as well. Just bear in mind that a "dagger" is not some piddley little 4 inch blade, but more like a 8-12 inch weapon designed to puncture stuff like Chainmail or deliver a killing blow to a plated knight through eye slits or underarms after they have been knocked down.
