Hi everyone. For those exchanging money, if you get to the Hilton Hotel before Friday, you can always walk over to Toronto Dominion Bank or TD Bank, just across the street (ask the concierge at the front desk) to exchange your money. Canadian banks have good rates for exchange. Average banking hours in Canada are 10AM to 4PM local time, although some banks do have extended hours.

Yes, Mamasue9 is correct. There will be 5 more actors attending the con. I have been talking to Creation about having them there. They won't be doing panels because Creation has pretty much booked all their talent for the panels. There just is no more time available. However, these guys really enjoy meeting the STARGATE fans and chatting with them, so they didn't want to miss the last con in Vancouver. They will be available for photo ops and autographs and will be around the hotel all of Sunday. So please stop and say hello.

After seeing him booked for the Chicago con, I'd love for one of these guests to be David Nykl. They could even toss him on stage for a bit with David Hewlett for a McKay & Zelenka reunion. Once I find out who these special guests are and when they will be available, I can see if I have enough room in my schedule as the Sunday looks to be quite busy with the David Hewlett and Paul McGillion Meet and Greets as well as the photo ops with the Atlantis guests.

I bet now Creation is kinda wishing they had kept that fourth day of the con. It's gonna be hectic... but fun!

Ooooh, chocolate!! What can I do for those coming from the UK and can bring me a nice big bar of Bournville chocolate?!!! Oh how I miss that, along with Battenberg and Fox's glacier mints. You can buy them here in specialist British shops, but it costs too much and depends on availability too. For the equivalent cost of a 400g bar of Bournville in the UK I can only get a 100g bar!

I too will never forget how welcoming and helpful people were on the con thread that first time I went to this con in 2007. I'd never been to any con before and I was going on my own as well. It really made the difference.

There's convention in France the same weekend as VanCon which has David Nykl, Colin Cunningham, Cliff Simon, and Carmen Argenzanio appearing. Alexis Cruz will be in Spain. Unless they're up to 2 different cons on 2 continents on the same weekend I doubt it will be any of them.

Amanda Tapping and Adam Baldwin are at the Calgary Expo that weekend but that's more possible to get back to Vancouver for Sunday if they are only there part of the weekend.

David was at Vancouver last year, though he was not on the same day as Joe, David H and Paul M last year. He did Vancouver, LA and in August Chicago.

Usually it seems the guest do a circuit of all three.

Torri did LA and soon Chicago, not sure why she is not at the Vancouver convention.

I'm new to Gateworld, because I've heard that here are many visitors of the Vancouver Con.
I'll visit the convention as well. I've been to many conventions already (in Europe), but it is my first convention in (and my first visit to) Canada. I'm very excited about that.
It seems that I have to read here a lot now.

Do Vancouver cabs take US dollars? Is there any reason to actually get money exchanged to Canadian?

In all the times I went to Van, only found one place that would not take American; a little convenience store in the middle of nowhere. The airport has the worst exchange rate. The hotel exchange rate has been fair but also everything in the hotel also took American directly. At the moment the exchange rate looks to be US $1 = Canadian 99c, so almost even so you shouldn't have any problems using US dollars.

Would it be weird if I wore a SG-1 costume to the location tour on Thursday?

I only ask because since I bring a lot of costumes for conventions I don't normally have that much room for normal clothes, especially an extra jacket in case of inclement weather, so I'm not sure if I'll have much else to wear with me but I also don't want to look like a super crazy person either if it's going to be too weird.

I just looked at the schedule for the Calgary Comic Expo and Amanda is appearing both Saturday and Sunday so that rules her out as a surprise guest in Vancouver. Adam is only in Calgary for the Saturday, so you never know.
