Official Final GateWorld Dinner Sign-Up

It's officially time to start planning for what will (sadly) be the final official GateWorld dinner in Vancouver. Our home for the past several years (Sammy J Peppers) closed their doors, so I was tasked with finding a new and last home for us that was nearby and could accomodate all of us. It wasn't an easy job.

Prices for menu items are mostly comparable to previous years. Attending the dinner does not mean you HAVE to eat. The potential size of this year's group -- between forum members, special guests (some are con guests, some are NOT), and Stargate crew -- means that eating may need to be staggered no matter how we do it. Rest assured though, between the spacious lounge area we'll have, the cast and crew drop-ins I'm setting up, potential prize giveaways and the later closing time (11pm)...we're all going to make this final dinner one not to forget.

To sign up, simply reply to this post, add your forum name in the appropriate area, and remove the quote tags. It's as simple as that. Please also indicate if you plan on bringing guests (+1, +2, etc.). Extra guests are fine, but only forum members can win any potential prizes we giveaway.

Finally, Earl's has stated that giving them a menu list of our choices is unnecessary. However, as an aid to both them and us, we're doing it anyway. After reviewing the menu off their site, please PM mamasue9 with your items. She'll be keeping tabs over the next 10 weeks.

Can't wait to see all of you in Stargate's hometown one final time!

OK, for you Americans that are going, I've got a question about customs when returning to the states. This is my first time going to a con out of the country, and my first time going out of the country by plane.

Regarding autographs and photo-ops, do you claim them? If so, what value do you place on them? Just the cost of the photo (in the case of the autograph) or what we pay Creation to get the autograph/photo-op?

Is there anything else I need to know regarding customs?

You don't need to claim them....I never have. While on board the plane before landing, you'll need to fill out a customs declaration form(also entering Canada).(Last year, I think the declaration form was collected before boarding the U.S. bound plane while in Vancouver). If you're a business person and sell those things, then you would claim them. As far as other questions about customs, just be prepared to answer the questions asked of you in Vancouver. I found them to be "off the wall' or intrusive. Also, be sure to contact your financial institutions about your travel dates so that your credit/atm/debit cards don't get flagged for fraud and you can't use them.

I was gone for 6 days to Dragon*con and the custom agent didn't believe that I didn't buy anything. He was nice about it but I was embarrassed to admit what I had bought.

I found all of the custom agents I talked to had either watched STARGATE or least were aware of it. One guy asked me quite a few questions about Dragon*con and who my favorite guests were.

Hey All

Anyone looking for a roomie to split costs?

I've shared with a few people from the Forum before and they all lived to tell to the tale so I'm a pretty safe bet! lol

I have gone a number of times to US cons from Canada and I have never claimed any of the photos or autos I bought. I did, however, have to claim the stargate action figures and T-shirt that I bought. I was gone for 6 days to Dragon*con and the custom agent didn't believe that I didn't buy anything. He was nice about it but I was embarrassed to admit what I had bought.

hahaha, on my way to LA last year the customs agent asked me why I was going, (I am super proud to be a con goer, don't ask me why I think it makes me cooler ) and so I told him. the agent talked to me for over 15 minutes about Stargate, I am very embarrassed to say he knew way more about it than I did. The lady that sat next to me and was taking the next flight with me thought I had been detained and asked if my luggage was all right.
