Science Fiction officially takes over the Pacific Northwest the week of April 2 through April 5. Not only is Emerald City Comicon moving into the Washington State Convention and Trade Center but also the Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis Convention is invading Vancouver, BC.
Emerald City Comicon, the Pacific Northwest’s premier comic book and pop culture convention, is celebrating its 7th annual convention on Saturday, April 4 from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, April 5 from 10am to 5pm. Tickets range from $15 to $30 with children 7 and under free. This year’s event is bigger and better than last year; so big, in fact, that it had to be moved to a new area of the Washington State Convention and Trade Center that had an additional 15,000 square feet.
Besides costume contests, panels, gaming and exhibits, guest stars will also be in Seattle for photo ops and appearances. Big names include Jewel Staite, best known as Kaylee Frye on Firefly and Dr. Jennifer Keller on Stargate Atlantis; Tahmoh Penikett seen as Helo on Battlestar Galactica and Paul Ballard on Dollhouse; Ray Park who was Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I; Aaron Douglas, Chief Galen Tyrol on Battlestar Galactica; Wil Wheaton remembered as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation; Michael Hogan known as Col. Saul Tigh on Battlestar Galactica; Noel Neill who played the original Lois Lane on The Adventures of Superman and more.
