we're coming over the 24th, spending time in nottingham, then returning to london on thursday for the con. I think we're going to sight see friday a bit, enjoy the con, then head back across the atlantis monday

C) um ... well, okay. I didn't think it'd be overly decent either, but since you asked Tracy, I was willing to do it for you! I mean, it is tasteful just ... um ... showy is perhaps the adjective for which I search?

Unfortunately, she's right ... I don't take well to being called 'little' ... never had. When you hit 5 foot tall and weigh in at 100+ lbs at the tender age of 7, it seems a bit delusional and more than a bit insulting to be called 'little' ...

...and point. I'm a hugger too ... and my bear hugs have come dangerously close to cracking ribs before (What can I say? I was a rather large, highly huggy child with disproportionate upper body strength... and small relatives ... my poor aunt still refuses to let me hug her again to this day!)

Edit: not that I'm a violent person (usually), I swear! I never punch hard ...
And I show much more restraint while hugging now, so y'all don't have to run off in fear when I come atcha with my arms out!!!

I am about as pale as you can get and I live in Southern California. Before I lived here I lived in Arizona. You'd think I'd be a bit tanner, but I have two shades: pastey and lobster red!

The burns don't even turn into tans, I just go back to pastey.

I actually perfer pastey for me. I avoid the sun. I never wear shorts (except to dance class, but then I wear black tights as well) and skirts are very rare (and never without nylons or tights). I would wear cargo pants and hoodies in Arizona in the summer time. Everyone thought I was crazy.

Same here! And as I get older I also wear long sleeves! I got a burn ONCE on my back when I was at Nantucket by the ocean and years later turned up with skin cancer where the burn had been worst. Tanning isn't good for anyone but if you are fair it's worse. Skiing I used to get a red nose even using sun screen. Just the nose--embarrassing.

Ok problem of getting weekend off solved. I'll be taking the week before the convention and the Sunday of the convention off as Annual leave. but i'll be working the Wednesday and Thursday night of that week. So i'll be having 6 nights off leave and getting paid 6 nights.

I'm going to book my train ticket in a minute.

And SQUEEEEEEEE, it's so soon now. What the heck are you guys bringing that you need so many suitcases? I only have a carry-on thing, I can bring on the plane. But, I don't have to bring clothes for the cocktailparty. And I really have no idea what to bring to get signed lol.

So, who is going to be there on friday, and not going to the party? Any plans for dinner yet?

Gotta have some space to pack the peanut butter, chocolate and jello. And a week and a half's worth of clothes, etc.

I'm using a second bag as a way to make sure nothing is overweight. I'm also using it as insurance. I studied in Germany for five weeks, and the airline lost one of my bags. It was definitely a problem.

Anyone coming transatlantic REALLY needs to be careful about what they pack in their belongings. T5 at Heathrow is having more than a few teething problems.
