I currently have one pair of pants that don't fall off me, so unless you all want me to go sans pants, I have to go shopping
It was suggested that I just bring a mostly empty suit case and go on a shopping spree while in London. Unfortunately, if I did that, with my luck I won't have any time to shop before the con and I would be S.O.L.
And with the exchange rate you'd have to shop in thrift shops anyway. Not that I'm not planning on looking for some funky (by US standards) pieces.
I'm new to posting on Gateworld and there are a LOT of pages on this thread. I am going to AT3, can anyone summarize the highlights of the thread for me? Thanks in advance.
Mmm that's a toughie as I think this thread falls outside the realms of easy summary. Besides the compulsory Amanda love, there are shared memories and moments from past Gabit events, and a lot of healthy advice and travelling tips for those coming to London. Generally if you have a question, just ask because no doubt there are others wondering the same thing as you are. This is also a thread for general merriment. Bring ear plugs because some people tend to break out into song. Mal counts us down every day to keep us all ridiculously excited, and Kliggy often provides snacks.

We squee, we worry about money, we admire the pretty shade of pink Mal uses in her countdowns, we discuss what to pack, we are admonished by the Gabit folks to bring red for the disco, we drool in anticipation, we get neurotic, we gain weight imbibing on Kliggy's snacks and purr between her fresh 800 count sheets, we plan what to pack, we bemoan the lack of sugarfree blue jello/jelly/gelatin, we debate the merit of one type of peanut butter over the others, we decide which peanut butter to pack, we celebrate each others' birthdays, we welcome newbies like you, and we anticipate going to London to meet the queen (and I ain't talking 'bout E-beth) and each other.
Well I'm one step closer to finalizing plans for this years trip. Booked my flight tonight. Now I need to get a new suitcase and carry on - my carry-on died at Comic Con last year and the suitcase well I guess after 15 years and 30+ countries it is time to retire it as well since the latches don't stay closed anymore.
