Not to put a damper on things, but there was quite a bit of negative reaction in the German fandom because the ticket prices are so high and we already have two big (and very very popular) Stargate conventions this year. Most of the German fans are students who can't afford yet another convention, let alone such an expensive one.

(Not to mention the fact that calling Mainz the "Frankfurt area" was the cause of much amusement in the German forums... )

Don't get me wrong, Germany has been ignored by the convention industry long enough. I think it's great that there are more cons nowadays. It's just... well. Very very expensive and Mainz is NOT the Frankfurt area. It's almost an hour by car and in a different state as well.

Sorry for being so negative about this.

In a world that seems to be increasing in conformity
it's harder and harder to be who you wanna be
It takes a lot of courage to stand up and get what you need
And lots of us are happy in a different kind of family
