See!! this goes to show that Atlantis was not ready to end! I think they were not prepared for this series to end. I think it came to them as a surprise. Hopefully the Movie ties up all these loose ends. But then again, SG1 didn't ever follow up on the thing between O'Neil and Samantha... Maybe star gate universe team will pulverize the Genii? Who knows, but seriously they star gate writers need to learn how to end chapters they always leave wholes in there story lines! Remember that one guy from the beginning of Atlantis, Lieutenant Ford? Maybe I missed the episode where the issue with him where finally resolved....Comment

Atlantis simply can not take off after repairs are done & Atlantis simple an not sail to a deeper not visited part of the pacific. First Atlantis would have to uncloak to take off to get the shield up & that right there can't happen unless they are ready to reveal the Stargate Program. Second people would notice the water activity & the noise alone Atlantis would make by sailing to another part of the water. There is no need for atlantis to physically be located inside the Pegasus Galaxy in order to provide help. The IOA could just have Daedalus or Apollo move a gate from the former intergalactic bridge to the planet that Atlantis was previously located on and set up an Alpha Site-like command base there.Warning: This post may not be meant to be taken seriously.

There is every need to maintain a presence in Pegasus, if not for the humanitarian principles put forward, then simply for exploration and discovery of new technologies. The hunt for ZPMs at least, is significant reason to maintain a presence, even if just via intergalactic gate travel from an earth based Atlantis, or from ship exploration.
