reason being.. they want to make them stranded? That doesn't exactly work and is kind of old.

Thornyrose writes: Will we see the Atlantis expedition become more isolated from Earth?

Answer: With the ships at Earth’s disposal, it’s almost impossible to isolate them completely.

Huh? No it's not. At least now they are stranded to an extent, in other words they're stranded when the writers need them to be. If a problem can be solved too easily by a ship then they say they don't have one in the galaxy at the moment, or they can say that it won't be here for a day or something, then they've got themselves a ticking clock. Things are much better now from a story telling point of view.

Just use the Tria its already there. Its huge its heavily armed, it can move out of range of either galaxies network easily with its slower hyperdrive but it dosent have the super hyperdrive that would let it get to earth.

Atlantis is the first line of defense from the wraith/replicators/anything else pegasus, the Tria would be the second and the Antartic outpost is the very last line of defense.

Really all they need to do is drop off 2 gates there, fix the hyperdrive and man the ship. I suggest putting the gates in a big room you can blow them out an airlock this time tho ^.^

things are much more annoying from a viewer point of view.

honestly, the bridge was a stupid idea... too much of a risk...

in fact the bridge becomes obsolete and even more useless if Atlantis has a ZPM...

so within the context of the show, the money the IOA would set aside for another bridge would be better spent researching, searching for, and finding a ZPM...

the Bridge opens a liability, as we've seen, decreasing our defense
the ZPM opens a safe doorway to earth AND INCREASES our defenses...

so if you had a choice... IGB or ZPM?
Colonel Jack O'Neill: So what's your impression of Alar?
Teal'c: That he is concealing something.
                Colonel Jack O'Neill: Like what?
Teal'c: I am unsure. He is concealing it.

It's annoying. They need to make up their minds are they stranded or are they not. They blew up the bridge to make it appear they are stranded yet cast changes are going to happen, guest appearances from SGC members will happen.

There's no point in having them stranded. and its annoying that every season they seem to be cut off 2 or 3 times.

With Midway they'd be connected ALL THE TIME. Getting rid of it means there's times when we are truly stranded (or at least, help won't come; we can always evacuate to Earth though), which creates drama and stuff.

Of course there is, some stories call for it.

If you’re that unhappy about the lack of a station think of a way to rebuild it that would give it a handicap, enabling its continued use without damaging the dynamic of the show.

Personally I think they should just carry a gate in a mammoth ship, just add more ships to the equation. Imagine a small fleet docked at Atlantis, plus more personal relationships from ship crew and Atlantis staff.

As I've said earlier in THIS VERY TOPIC.
Essentially give them a space ship for Midway.

...as for the "if the story calls for it" comment.....
It's the same story. We're stranded, oh no we're fine. That was fine in season 1. And it could of been ok, when Atlantis got lost in space. When every other episode all they do is say, Well the Daedalus isn't hear, the apollo is being repaired, or some BS excuse for it missing. Its old. As a matter of fact THEY AREN'T STRANDED, at anytime they can dial earth and leave.

What i hate more than the "We're stranded and can't go anywhere without a 304" is when they take the 8 hour journey(which we see 30 seconds of) in Puddle Jumpers. Why cant they stick them on the Daedalus instead? That way, the bathroom situation MAKES SENSE lol.

anyway, one of the reasons I don't like Atlantis as much as I did is because of the whole stranded feeling, well lack thereof. They say their stranded, but they know their not. Atlantis wouldn't be stranded more than a month with our ships out there.
