They could easily have been helping the alternate McKay and Woolsey.
The reason that Teyla and Ronon are not there is simple. It's because Sheppard isn't on the SG team. It was Shepaprd who invited Teyla to join the team, it was Sheppard who invited Ronon to the team. Without Sheppard, neither would be on the team. So, it ponders the thought of who is on Rodney's team? But this is really more of a discussion for the Vegas thread at

Stargate: Atlantis - Vegas Review

in Stargate: Atlantis
Starting in a very CSI style format, out in the desert with some camera shots of a crime scene, this episode got on my nerves early on. A strange lady yelling “Detective Sheppard” made it worse. Within the first two minutes, I wanted to turn off the video, but because it is Stargate, I continued to watch.
Looks like the episode is filled with the actors we know and love, but they don’t know or understand why people are turning up dead from old age, despite the dental records saying that they are much younger.

A few months ago, before we learned about Sci Fi's decision to cancel "Stargate Atlantis," "Vegas" would've just been a fun, experimental stand-alone; nothing to get worked up about. Now, as the series' penultimate episode, I can see it causing a stir among fans. Why, some might ask, would the "Atlantis" brain trust choose to set up the series finale with an alternate reality episode set in Las Vegas?
**snippage**
What Worked:
The final act really saved this episode. Up until then, "Vegas" seemed like an oddly placed stand-alone. Now we know that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas, as that Wraith transmission will likely reach "our" dimension and send hundreds of hive ships hurtling towards Earth.
... The entire episode looked fantastic. "Stargate Atlantis" really was a high-caliber production, and "Vegas" showed that this crew could make any setting, even the Arizona desert, look like the place to be.
What Didn't Work:
Let's start with the procedural stuff. You either like it or you don't -- and I really don't. The first half was mostly an uninspired homage to all the shows I hate ("CSI," "NCIS," "Cold Case," etc.). It was boring and incredibly cliché, and some of the music choices were way too obvious. (Marilyn Manson? Really?). I also think the tone they were going for was a bad fit for "Atlantis." It mostly just robbed the ep of the show's usual spirit.
... Poor Joe Flanigan. I usually find the guy to be quite charming, but this script really hung him out to dry. Where were the clever sarcastic cracks? The sly pop culture references? I get that this was a darker and more tortured version of John Sheppard, but why did he have to be so dull? I'm looking forward to Sheppard the hero returning next week.
Stargate actor Robert Picardo recently announced that the Stargate Atlantis finale - ‘Enemy at the Gate ‘ was a “well crafted” piece of television.
It’s not.
“Enemy at the Gate” is by no means Atlantis’ worst hour - not even close. In fact, by the second half of Season Four’s mediocre standards, its outstanding.
However, that’s scarcely enough to merit calling it “well crafted”.

Robert Picardo, you’ve done some fine television. How did you conceive this to be ‘well crafted’?

Sometimes, I really hate these critics. If this episode is better than Season 4 Standards, I am going to love this episode. Season 4 was the best season of the series to date, imho.

Friday: It’s not a great time to jump on the “Stargate Atlantis” bandwagon. The spaced-out series airs its 100th — and final — episode tonight. It has Atlantis racing to destroy an advanced wraith hive ship. Don’t ask us to explain. 9 p.m., Sci Fi.

TV Review: Stargate Atlantis Series Finale, Enemy at the Gate
January 4, 2009
“Enemy at the Gate”, the final Stargate: Atlantis episode, comes after a pretty strange episode in which we visited a parallel Earth where John Sheppard was a burnt out cop in Vegas chasing a serial killer that, as it turns out, is actually a Wraith soldier stranded on Earth during a failed invasion. The episode was titled “Vegas”, but I like to call it CSI: Atlantis, since the entire episode was purposely shot in that franchise show’s style. At the end of “Vegas”, the Wraith succeeded in punching a hole through space-time and sending the coordinates to Earth into multiple parallel universes to be intercepted. So whatever became of that signal? As it turns out, one of those parallel universes it managed to reach is our universe – or the universe in which the regular Stargate: Atlantis show is set in, I mean.

Series Finale: Friday at 9pm on SciFi
It’s the end of an era for fans of this SciFi series as “Stargate Atlantis” airs its last episode of the series this week. On the finale, Todd warns Atlantis about a sophisticated hive ship and advises the team to attack the vessel before it can actually become a threat to Earth. Will the team listen?
