Skipipng past the ads inserted in this thread .... the princess thing seems to always be dragged into every scifi show once writers start grasping for plots And I dont think a single prince/princess exists in these storylines that doesn't start out as "opinonated" "brat" etc. that of course, becomes a better person once the heroes save them from some peril.

Why is no one looking forward to this episode? I'm just curious, because I am really looking forward to it, and it seems everyone is assuming it's gonna suck (I mean, come on, Marty G. wrote it!).
So many episodes to look forward to, but Harmony is high on my list.

Sheppard and McKay are my favorites. The one thing this season has been lacking for me is enough Sheppard and McKay. Put those two together with Gero and it’s got to be good.

If space battles are your thing, this isn’t the episode for you.
If you just got to have major story arcs, doesn’t look like this will satisfy you.
(Although, this may be the start of an arc with the Genii.)
If, for you, like me, this IS the Sheppard and McKay hour , Harmony will be perfect.

^I do enjoy the Shep/McKay banter and love their friendship but the reason I'm not looking forward to this episode is that everything I've seen of it suggests that the two of them are going to be made to look like idiots. After a season of writing a more mature Shep and McKay we're back to them behaving like 12 year-olds.

I don't even have a problem with them looking after this child princess its the way it comes about.

I love the more mature Sheppard and McKay this season. I don’t want to give up the humor and the silliness entirely; I just want them to keep it out of critical situations.

An episode played for humor is fine with me.
              I love Travelers.
I honestly think Harmony will be good.

We’ll have to wait and see. I think it might surprise everyone.

This is Gero and he does know how to pull out the surprises.

I hope you're right and it is a good episode I really do. But I'm not a huge fan of Gero, I find his episodes hit and miss.

As for the humour, I agree we need humour, its one of the main reasons the Stargate franchise has been so successful BUT characters can be funny and goofy without looking like incompetent morons.

Like I said I really hope you're right and this is actually a good episode, I think the scenes once they are out in the woods and its just them and the kid will probably be quite fun but one or two cute scene do not a good episode make.

I agree that Gero's scripts can be hit or miss. I'll really like some and cringe at others. But as for humor, you can inject it into the worst situations as long as it's black humor, although if the situation is really dire let's poor ROdney doesn't curl up in a ball on the floor

Harmony has the potential to be season 4's Tower, or it could be a decent episode. Just judging from clips I've seen (and the basic plot) it's not going to rank as a great episode though, but if done well, it could prove amusing.

Yeah, definitely my least looking-forward-to episode of the season. I'm not a fan of kids (even though Jodelle's awesome) or any episode with a stereotypical medieval theme to it. I was fine with the Ori arc, as at least that had more intrigue and SciFi stuff behind it, but when we're dealing with kings and princesses, I just zone out.

Still, no-doubt-awesome Shep-McKay banter and the fact that Marty G is writing it are certainly pluses in my books. We'll how it goes.
I was a tad worried about that from the start but the new video does renew my interest. I liked the Tower but do hope this is better.

Bwahahaha! Maybe that's why I'm hoping to Jebus this episode is good. I'm still recovering from the Quarantine mess. Although, if there's one thing Gero does well it's write Mckay. I don't think he'll be pulling a Binder.

                      Spoiler:
And judging by the clip posted here on Gateworld, Mckay is protecting the girl and stalling for Sheppard to get to them all while looking down the barrels of a few guns. That's our Rodney.

Well I've never thought CB wrote Mckay badly I do agree that Gero can do a great job. Rodney wanting to save his skin and taking the time to debate leaving the girl. Classic. This could be very good.

So… I take it from that, that the fear here is that there will be pretty sisters that fluster Sheppard and McKay and that they agree to escort the kid because they are smitten. Okay, I do hope they don’t act as stupid as they did in The Inferno, that joke got old pretty fast for me, but a little fluster when they meet royalty is normal. They are trying to establish friendly relations with these people?

Seriously, would Sheppard let this kid walk through the dark scary woods alone, once he found out? It’s just a walk in the park, a road trip to an old temple… with a precocious kid.

Sheppard around women has never bothered me. JF is too good at it. I just watched Sanctuary on Scifi. I still love the instant rapport Sheppard has with Chaya (through the Ancient gene). We didn’t know it then, but we know now that this is not normal behavior for him.

I do think most of the episode will be about their escorting service, and I do think it will be funny.

I also think it will be exciting, if only in the stuck-on-a-planet unexpectedly and way outnumberedly fighting-bad-guys kind of way.

Meh Inferno was fine the only ep it was way too much was The Tower. I enjoyed those eps but sometimes they go a bit to far.

I don't have a problem with Sheppard flirting with women, I've never brought into the whole Kirking nonsense but what you've described at the top of your post is pretty much what we know will happen and it has nothing to do with them being royalty, this is a planet they are familiar with and they have met Harmony's sisters before. And Shep doesn't agree to escort Harmony because she's a little girl, he agrees because he thinks that she is an adult - another hot princess.

And he probably would have agreed to help had he known she was a child so why not write it that way?
