Take your time...
I agree with mcbarr that in the end they should have won. Granted the Lantean ships were outnumbered & so were rarely in what would be considered a fair fight. The warships wouldn't have enough Drones in their armoury to take out more than 2/3 Hives at any one time I'd imagine. Consider Hives are unshielded, then in comes the energy weapons. Look at what a single weapon did in 'Trinity', while the sat weapon in 'The Siege 1' cut open a Hive with a single shot. If not damaged it should have taken out all 3 Hives.
Install either on a Lantean warship & you'd murder the Wraith. Jump in, fire a few shots, take out a few ships. Then jump back in hyperspace within a few seconds. Use it enough times & the Hives would be decimated, with thousands on the Hives, their population would soon start to decimate.
The comes Atlantis. It was able to withstand Wraith bombardments for years. Why not install energy based weapons in the city, something like they did in 'The Siege 2' with the rail guns or in 'Trinity'. Wraith ships jump into orbit around the planet. You open up & take out the fleet, all from the safety of being behind the shield. The Wraith send more ships, you keep taking them out. If the Wraith stop sending ships, you expand to installing these weapons platforms on other planets throughout the galaxy.
End result is the Wraith are gone.

They always knew they'd be outnumbered in any potential engagements. Drones are very effective, the problem is you need too many of them to take out a Wraith fleet. They are limited by the numbers that they can carry at any one time in their armoury. It would be stupid to fight, knwoing you only had ammo to take out half the ships you'd be facing, then after that your nothing more than a sitting duck. At least with energy weapons, they have the luxury of having virtually unlimited ammo, which when used against unshielded tagets would be nothing more than 'cannon fodder'. Installing the beam weapon, would have allowed them to take out a Hive in a single shot.
If you look at pics of 'Orion' from "Inferno", you can see what looks to be a few dozen weapons turrets running along most of the hull surrounding the bridge. I see these as being used to take out the waves of incoming Darts that are launched from the Hives when a battle starts.
While at the front, it has 2 huge lances protruding from it. Personally I see them as being beam weapons, but others have speculated that they are for communications.
Hence nothing is really known about warships other than they are pretty big in size, have drones, interstellar hyperdrives, holograms, can carry large numbers of crew/passengers, stasis chambers, brig etc. Hopefully in 'Travelers' we'll finally get to see if they additional weapons or not.

Ok, I think we all agree that in terms of pure fire power, the Lantians would probably come on top.
BUT, they are NOT good strategists; that much is pretty clear. The Wraith, on the other hand, were pretty much bred for war and are very violent and cunning. There are other ways to fight than just blowing the crap out of each other, there's sabotage, surprise attacks, computer viruses, hell, a Wraith was able to tap into the Aurora's computer network and make itself look Lantian in that virtual reality; you really think they don't have other tricks up their sleaves?
The Wraith won using numbers (huuuuuge numbers; for all we know they made their ships and bred like bunnies on viagra) and strategy, the Lantians seemed to only rely on their technology, and not their brains, if you know what I mean.
Really, this type of "they're much more advanced so no way they'd be defeated" thinking is what brought down all of the great empires of the world.

One other thing I want is for season 4 to be more technology related. For instance, info on Wraith tech, explore more of the city, find a new class of Ancient ship, ect.
Oh and they need to replace the P90's with some cool Ancient weapons. Maybe they were designing a cool new battle rifle and McKay can finish it or synthesize it with the Asgard tech.Last edited by Professor Chaos; 10 May 2007, 03:49 PM.Kevan Smith: "I shoot it, I go home, I get drunk."
