    time discrepancy? aka plot hole (The Return spoilers)

    Wait wait wait wait wait....

    They were flying at 0.9 the speed of light? And they were flying (in our time perception) for 1 million years. Since the mid-way station is about 1million light years away from either galaxy... Right? The Ancients left Atlantis about 10,000 years ago and.... the Wraith War only lasted 100 years. So one can surmise that the Wraith War was was from 10,100 BCE to 10,000 BCE. (BCE = Before the Common Era... not everyone is Christian so I never use the BC)

    Yet, 1million years ago the managed to be attacked by several Wraith ships and had to flee... hmm...

    1,000,000 -vs- 10,100.... me think someone needs to take Math 101.....

    cpt. of Tria said their hyperdrive broke on their way... so they decided to go "near light speed" to use relativity to slow down aging. simple.
    ship was damaged while fighting the Wraith, they were on their way back to Atlantis, but they found out evacuation was already done, so they tried to reach MW with damaged ship.

    no plot hole.

      To quote Mckay... "Relativity..!" Specifically they were flying at 0.999 the speed of light. Midway Station is about 1.5 Million lightyears from either galaxy. Yes, the Ancients left Pegasus about 10,000 years ago (our time frame) using their hyperdrives at first. Then their drive failed and they had to travel using sublight engines, which expanded the relative time for us, while only a couple of years had passed for the Ancients.

      So... they didn't flee a Million years ago.

        but wouldnt that mean they dropped out of hyperspace to get damaged?

          No, it means that their hyperdrive was already damaged, but still had some life in it. Eventually it gave out, and they coudln't fix it, so they decided to push on in sublight.

            exactlly.... Helia (cpt. of Tria) said so. they were on their way to Atlantis when they heard that evacuation order was given, so thy decided to try to reach Earth with damaged ship and hyperdrive broke on the way.

            simple...

              Also, notice how Helia is slightly older than the rest of the crew. It's perfectly possible they put everyone in stasis except her to monitor stuff (poor Helia).

                Scanning and finding and slowing down to hail a ship while going at 99.999% the speed of light would take lightning fast reflexes

                  1) - they are Ancients
                  2) - they could have programmed their sensors and computers to do that automatically

                  if (ship_detected () ) {

                  scan_for_hyperdrive;

                  }

                  if ( hyperdrive_exist () ) {

                  HIT_THE_BREAKS! ();

                  }

                    They were obviously scanning the entire time and when they found us, they slowed down. The Daedalus, in the meantime, was going as fast as it could. And then they communicated through holograms and whatever-radios.

                    It's safe to say they were nowhere near each other (as Sheppard made a point of pointing out it'd take a while for the ship to slow down completely and for them to reach the ship).

                      Seriously now, I highly doubt they started exactly 1.5 million LY from the "mid point"

                        I thought the Ancients aged much slower than we did?

                          Actually, they still screwed up the relativistic calculations - it should take another ~40000 years to hit the Milky Way, ship time, not another 12.

                          However, there isn't a plot hole - they used hyperdrive to get out into the middle of nowhere, and then travelled along at hyperdrive for ~10000 years (which is a few hundred years, ship-time).

                            I agree. I didnn't think there was a plot hole I thought it was described just right. It's all in the science plus they are Ancients so i think their knowledge of Ancient tech far surpasses us.

                              Is anyoen else amused that our transporters and hyperdrives are better than the ancients? No crappy rings or long travel times here!!!! This our house now!
