Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
And oh yeah... I forgot to mention... but I actually have some good news too. My sister and I found an apartment, not too far from where we live now (150 meters qualifies as not that far, right )... so there will be packing in our future. Any tips?
Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Screw the Angst Wednesday!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.
Took a little jaunt over to the county seat on the main island yesterday and got our new drivers licenses and car registrations. Nice little town, has a bigger market with more of the stuff we like so we'll probably head over there at least once a month to pick up our faves, cute shops and eateries, and practically everything in walking distance of the ferry landing.

Great. Love exploring new areas.

The storm has quieted some but my goddess, if I have to roll my eyes one more time I fear they'll roll right out of my head.
And how social my not-colleagues were (the IT-guys) in the one office building, so little are my actual colleagues in the other building. And thus I ended up having lunch all on my lonesome. Also, they have no understanding of what I actually do, or am supposed to do. And thus they also don't understand how difficult it is.
And then there's the horrifyingly boring office environment... and they have no sense of humor.
You couldn't change your username? I thought the mods would do that if you asked them, unless they've changed that policy recently and won't do it anymore.
Here in the US, Creation's down to only one official Stargate convention, in Chicago, and they don't seem to be at all interested in having a joint Joe & Torri appearance. You might catch one or the other making an individual appearance at other film/TV/comic conventions, especially Torri, as she has been doing some sci-fi/genre projects lately. It seems to be pretty much the same outside the US.
But yeah, we'll always have the con videos of epic fun.
I checked out the lineup for Chicago, and I don't think I would go unless I were nearby. If Torri or Teryl were there, then I might make the effort. Oh, well. I do hope there continue to be Stargate conventions in the US, even if they are once a year. I read on the convention site that this would be the last year it would be hosted at that location, so I wonder about next year...
I was under the impression that yes they still do. You can ask only once though. However, I think it's also possible to merge the two accounts, but that's something you'll have ask to know for sure. Just yank Skydiver or Bagpuss' chain... gently.

They said that last year would be the last Chicago con also, so who knows? Torri was there one year, but they put her and Joe on different days. I know they have been asked and begged to do a Sparkycon appearance with those two but it has never happened. Makes me wonder. I don't think the organizers are shippers at all unless it's McShep because they never pair up shippy couples.

Yeah, Creation also did the "last con ever" thing for several years with their Farscape conventions. So it's possible that as long as they think they can make some money, they'll keep extending the run.

There is a trend over here for young people, I'd say under 40, to live in more urban areas where they can walk or take public transportation to everything. Some are even giving up cars altogether. Is this happening where you live also? Formerly, they all went for the large home in the suburbs, two cars and a dog, but now, not so much.
I think some of that is the student loan debt that the younger generation now suffers. I looked up the school I went to which now costs about $60,000 per year altogether! When I went in the '90s, it was more like $20,000 per year for it all.
And they keep sending me requests for money, which I roll my eyes at and toss in the trash.

Signed the contract today. The place is officially ours as of june first.
My actual colleagues are the most anti-social creatures ever. However, on friday I met another person who works from the other office too, and learned that there is at least one person who has a sense of humor and we were quite on the same wavelength too, which led to some hilarious conversations. Friday was a good day.
The week ended better than it did two weeks ago, so here's hoping. However, doesn't stop me from still looking for something else - preferably closer to home. Not a fan of train commutes.

That could be part of it. But living close in actually costs more. SR JR and his wife live in a very large townhouse 10 minutes from work but want to "downsize" and move to an area where they can walk to stores, restaurants, etc. They are already a 2 minute drive from all that. I don't get it. Plus I want them to buy one of those large houses out a bit further west from them. Quiet is the important thing to me but the younguns want the active lifestyle. Our new place in the mountains will be 25 minutes from the nearest anything, down a curvy mountain road. We can't wait. Our new neighbors report bears in the woods. Woo hoo! Mr. SR says we'll have to put bells on our shoes when we go walking. Sweet.

*nods* That's definitely part of it. And that's about how much the cost of going to USC has gone up since I went there, too.

Yay! Glad to hear this week went a bit better. *hugs you*

We don't have bears out here in the islands, but we do have plenty of deer, raccoons, bunnies, squirrels, frogs, and eagles. Bald eagles. There's apparently a nest near (but not on) our property, and we've seen them flying around overhead. VERY cool.

Cool indeed. You'll probably see some neat woodpeckers too. Do you have pileated woodpeckers? They are big suckers.
On the college tuition, I don't even want to check on what my alma mater charges. My whole 4 years came to about $10k. And yes, I am just that old.
Okay, I peeked and my little old state school is now $6143 for instate and $20,340 for out of state. So, you don't have to spend an arm and a leg. Just an arm.

I've been looking for any interviews with Torri or Joe with questions regarding the relationship between their characters, and I'm not coming up with much. Torri talks about Caldwell quite a lot. ;p
Have they ever actually said anything about it? I remember reading somewhere that, supposedly, Joe said that he saw potential with Teyla and not Elizabeth, which I think is funny since I'm pretty sure there are more Sparky shippers.
I've had my old username changed, but it's misspelled. I'm hoping they'll be able to change it again.
