Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread

I'm enjoying all the videos everyone's putting up on the thread. Most of them I've already seen, but I don't mind re-watching them.

This Sparky video is amongst my favorites. For those of you who weren't happy with how Weir's story went in season 4 I recommend watching this.

I don't know if I'll ever be at peace with what happened to Elizabeth. It's been been almost 6 years and I still can't think about it too much because it makes my blood boil, lol. Just when I think I'm finally over it I start to think about how unfair and ridiculous the whole deal was and I'm filled with fannish rage all over again.

Like right now, watching that vid. I mean, Carter tells him "no, John you can't go" and he's like "oh, well, okay. If you say so." And the way they tried to mirror their discussion from The Rising, such a blatant attempt at manipulation. It's like they were trying to use Elizabeth's words against her.

I really, really don't understand why the writers made Sam say no to even attempt a rescue mission. It's so OOC for her and I understand why you dislike her so much because of it. They made so many, very risky rescue missions in SG-1 it just doesn't make sense that one of the very first things Sam does when she gets in command is to say no to John. It really makes me sad - both on Sam's behalf and on Sheppard and Weir's behalf

I've realised I don't resent Carter anymore. Back when it was still fresh I did hold it against her and Keller. The wound was still fresh and Carter and Keller arrived right when everything went to hell, so it all conflated and they became a representation of this unwanted change.

But now I just blame tptb. These are just characters and there were times when tptb used them as mouthpieces with zero respect for continuity or character integrity. They used them as tools to further their agenda while throwing the show's history down the drain. And Carter was one more of those characters who tptb destroyed when they allowed their pettiness and gigantic egos to derail this show.

So, when I see Carter or John acting like in that scene on the balcony, it doesn't ring true at all. Those aren't John and Carter and they're not voicing John and Carter's true feelings on the subject. Those are just tptb writing some wildly ooc version of those characters.

OMG, that was great. I was smiling throughout, whilst wanting to cry at the same time. How talented, to take clips from all five series and cut it together so it is want we really want.

*SIGH*. If only TBTB could have figured out what the fans wanted.

I watched Stargate from the very beginning - even went to see the original movie at the cinema in 1992 when i was 13. So I saw Sam from the beginning and loved her character. I was pleased when i heard she was joining SGA but was very disappointed when I found out that she was replacing Elizabeth. As it was, they did great injustice to Sam as a character. I felt she was mostly OOC and didn't even appear in a few episodes of Season 4 - but still got far more respect from the writers than Weir ever got. And, yes, for a while it did make me resent her. It has taken me rewatching her in SG-1 to be reminded how cool she really was. Amanda Tapping wasn't to blame. Mullie and Malozzi were.

It was brilliant. Read the prologue this afternoon and thought it was a lovely tag to end the two-parter. I'm not going to say anymore just in case there are others who haven't read it yet but - WOW!

I also want to second Soulster's sentiments and thank you all at SGA:Rising on a job well done - so far! Looking forward to the next episode.
