Here I am with another of my questions for discussion, if you'd like. What do you guys think of the Genii, after everything we've learned about them? Are they good, bad, or ambigous? Do you enjoy Genii episodes? Who is your favorite Genii?

What do you think of Ladon - good, bad or spineless?

Loving the discussion about the Genii. My fave was also Kolya. Hey, he totally had John and Elizabeth pegged, and he never hesitated to use them against each other.

I remember learning about how the Genii were once a major power in the Pegasus Galaxy a thousand years earlier, then were forced to retreat when the Wraith culled them. It's clear from their attempt to take Atlantis in The Storm/The Eye, Ladon's offer to Ronon and Teyla to join him in The Return Part 1, the attempt to interfere with Harmony ascending her throne, and later attempting to manipulate the Coalition in Inquisition, that they're trying to recapture that status as king of the hill in Pegasus. Ladon seems to be more open to working with the expedition as equals, unlike Cowen and Kolya, but then again, there are still those covert operations that seem to hint that even Ladon's not above having his own agenda. The Genii are the classic 'frienemy,' and I always found them more interesting than the Wraith.

Anuna: I like the Genii even if I think TPTB screwed up the story at the end. My favorite Genii is Ladon for the reason given by Infinitie-possibilities He's an ambigous character.

I don't think Ladon was "spineless" per say really. He actually made many bold moves during his time on the show. But there was something in Ryan Robins' impressive performance that made the character often seem just so... slimy. The PTB talked about it during his episodes on the commentary. I watched them recently. And I have to agree. There was this quality that he showed that gave him a very subtle quasi-sinister edge.

Oh and good luck against Ireland, Probie.

I agree with Infinite Possibilities - while Ladon's actions, some of them, were truly bold, he always made you think what was his real intention.

SK, those are the eps I really must watch then!

Well, I usually cheer for Croatian national team but this year we officialy suck harder than a black hole. I need a team to be proud of, don't hate me for that

Portugal has a VERY good team, though. It won't be easy for Bosnia!

I'm not from anywhere that is a football superpower. So I generally just choose teams that I find entertaining to be my favorites.

I'm half Armenian, so I always support them when they try to qualify, but since they are always near the lowest section of their groups, I have to cheer for somebody else at major tournaments it appears. I take heart from little successes but Unless they improve, I can't really be a "patriotic fan" at major events.

The Canadian team isn't very good, and the sport isn't exactly huge here, so I just tend go "Yay Canada, whatever" if I hear they are playing. I think they just lost to Macedonia today.

I've always liked Brazil a lot. They are probably the ones that I'm most consistently behind.

I was a huge fan of Portugal too. But I don't think they are as quite as good as they used to be a few years ago. I miss Rui Costa and Luis Figo. Same with the Czech Republic.

Lately I've more and more of a fan of Spain.

And after them maybe Argentina and the Netherlands too.
