I'm on the search for a beta right now for the new piece of Sparky fluff I've been writing, and so I come bearing a preview for anyone willing to take on the task. It began with one idea, and then kind of went in a different direction, so I think it might need a little work.

What possessed him to kiss her he may never understand, but he imagines that a great deal was due to his own heavy sadness, the instantaneous desire of two mortal beings to find comfort in one another. They had lost more men that afternoon than they wanted to remember - soldiers, yes, but dear friends as well - and he saw within her tears his own failure, and the misplaced disappointment in herself that he knew she must feel.

The first kiss caught her off guard, a small lingering peck that was just enough to dam the river of her silent sobs. The second and third fell in quick succession, and still he wasn't entirely sure that it was his lips that were covering hers, his hands that had reached up to tangle in her hair.

On the fourth kiss, his heart stopped completely, and his brain ceased to function in any rational way. Her hands had wrapped themselves around his neck - her grip stronger than he would have expected, and more urgent than he could have ever hoped for - and she kissed him back with a furious passion that he could feel vibrating throughout his entire body, warming him all the way down to his toes.

Help would be rewarded with... um... hugs?

I think we all love that balcony *happy sigh*. Though that last pic is so sad , we need a happy Sparky balcony scene in TMC, though I'll stick with realistic rather than optimistic and say that I don't think we'll get one.
