Christopher Heyerdahl, who portrays the show’s resident Wraith Todd, heads back to Stage 2 for his next scene, along with another actor who is making his début as Atlantis’s first bald Wraith commander. Close behind them is Rachel Luttrell, looking quite unlike her usual style as Teyla. It is all in aid of the fifth season episode The Queen, where she disguises herself as a Queen Wraith to gain the confidence of the enemy and, in doing so, carry out a plan that could change the Wraith’s feeding habits and help save Humankind.
Oh, I think they may have been planning this long before I started posting here, or on JM's blog. I mean...I just started in January, and...hey...when did they start writing their scripts??!
Spoiler:
But I'm not the first - or the only - one who has said the Wraith need to find a new food source. I know I'm not the first one to suggest using a cloning facility to make their own food. I'm just glad they are considering it - the thing is, WILL Todd succeed??? See...he's got the plans, but will the writer's allow him to succeed, or will his plans be ruined like they were in SoW?? I'm thinking they will be ruined, Wraith will have to continue to feed on humans, and Todd will be back at square one. Ugh. I'm excited and petrified at the same time!!!
Maybe he was trying out some stuff before... He doesn't seen the 'eat plenty' type, so that's why he put them back rather than feed on them? He doesn't seem the type to just finish off an entire village either, he's not really a real harsh one like some others...
And the 'Impossible' part? He realized they weren't all dead after all!
Hey Das, hope you feel better for the convention. We have a convention coming to TO (the big smoke) in June--Polaris. I'm looking forward to it. I'm still sick as a very sick person, been a week off of work, cant breath, can't sleep. I'm beginning to look like a wraith, pale from staying inside and dark circles under me eyes, no sleep.
Any way, I wanted to know where did you get that picture of BP Todd giving the Thumbs up? Are there more of him doing this??
And yea, it's about time the wraith change their ways, eating people: you're gonna starve to death because they're tricky tricky.
Finally, I think someone mentioned something about wraith drunkenness. Based on how often they eat, (ahem ahem...feed) they would not have a "high" metabolic rate, but an extremely "low" one. So they could conceivably get drunk in June and not get sober till August, or at least that is when the hangover would begin. Thinner people need to eat more frequently to keep their energy up because their metabolic rate is quite high; stouter or stalkier people do not have to eat as frequently because they have a lower metabolic rate.
Well interesting stuff. And always a pleasure to read

Spoiler:
That is possible - Todd could even have been the scientist. Would be cool...I mean, he IS Wraith, and would have been looking for all sorts of way to enhance his meals.
The Outsiders (I think that's the name of it) is going to be a follow-up to The Queen. Will it deal with Wraith who are feeding on an alternative food source, rejected by the others? If so, will Todd be in that episode - or will he be...dead. I am really afraid of what's going to happen to him in that mid-season two-parter. I fear he's gonna get kilt.
das
PS: Feel better Wraith Cake! I hate this being sick stuff...blech.
Good point about the getting drunk. They would seem to have a low metabolic rate (since they don't have to constantly feed), so...heh...drunk Wraith it is!!
Rachel can't go on mat leave--which sucks. But that's the type of work acting is. I cannot even imagine having a baby, breast feeding baby, are exhausted already, having to be up for prosthetics at 3:00 a.m. then not finished until 8:00 pm, breast feeding baby in wraith costume every 2 to 3 hours, having to eat more frequently with wraith make-up messing up around the mouth--ug! I would be sick. I'm also surprised but most of the cast, except for Mr. Moma and Jewel are in their late late 30s early 40s. I think Rachel is 37 or 38. Man oh man, being a new older mom and such a break neck schedule I cannot even imagine.

chris' interview says todd is the "wraith of the future". I don't think he'll die.
if he does, there will be many angry wraith fans storming vancouver.
well.. I don't think being 37 or 38 is "old" . Today it's nearly common to become mother/father at mid 30's. But it must be very exhausting though having a new born baby and a full-time job. Glad her baby at least isn't scared of her costume
You know, I'm sure this has been asked before and I just haven't seen it, but why do wraith insist on feeding on free-range humans? Have they ever considered human-farming? I know it's all the rage now to do the the whole "organic foods" thing, but you'd think that humans-as-livestock would make a lot more sense as far as their nutritional concerns go. They've seen humans doing agriculture; they're smart, I'm sure they could put two and two together and one of them would say, "Hey, that's a really good idea there!".
Hi (don't know if I've said that to you yet). LOL Organic humans would be so much healthier - less preservitives .
(Sheppard and Ronon had just boarded a hive ship alone, trying to kidnap an enemy wraith. Both were armed, with stunners.)
Sheppard: “Ok, this area is clear. Wait…is that singing?” (Both round the corner and enter a room where a male wraith is taking a shower.) “Oh my god, it’s Steve.”
Steve: “I’m so pretty, O so pretty…”
Ronon: “Let me stun him…”
Sheppard: “No, he’s wet…” (Ronon stuns Steve, who collapses in all his naked glory.) “Great, lets get him out of here.”
(Back at Atlantis, Weir walks into the room Steve was being held in.)
Weir: “How is he?” (Sheppard grunted, motioning toward the motionless Steve.)
Sheppard: “Think that stun did some brain damage, thanks to Ronon.” (Ronon smirks.)
Weir: “Well, what has he said?” (Sheppard pokes Steve, who goes into a fit.)
Steve: “I’M SO PRETTY…” (They clapped their hands over their ears until Steve was done.)
Weir: “Wow, he is a very valuable source of information now.”
Sheppard: “Look at it this way, not only do we have an entertainer now, but we know one of the wraith’s weaknesses, vanity.”
Poor steve really cops it, I think he needs a hug.

That would be excellent !!!! We wouldn't have to stun poor steve to play with his hair!
@ Karhedron, thanks for the heads up. I have been very tired lately, and misread your post. I now feel like an ass, but at least I can laugh at myself
I know I've missed people.
Spoiler:
I am very tired at the moment. My son has for the past two days had an afternoon nap (first avo from 3 - 5.30, next day from 4 - 8pm). He is 5 years old, and once asleep can't be woken, and when he does wake up, he is impossible to put back to sleep. So I have had to stay up with him until midnight, when he finally is tired enough to go back to bed. Only problem is, he still wakes up at 5.30 am! I stay up because it is impossible to go to sleep while he's awake, he constantly gets me up to do things for him. He doesn't have any understanding how much this affects us others. He has delayed speech - only says single words. This effects everything else - his communication, socialisation and comprehension ability are all delayed as a result. He is getting better though, and we have started the process of having Ethan diagnosed, though the local mental health office. It has a 3 month waiting list, so we probably won't get any feedback for another 6 months. He is also in to see a paediatrician, but the nearest appointment is September. The diagnosis will help with funding, and tailoring an education program for him. So the stress of worrying doesn't help the tiredness

I agree, I don't think that is old at all, and it is nice to know that many people in society understand this. I think by the time I finish paying off school debt and getting myself reasonably stable, that will be about the age that I'll be in the market to have a little one.

I feel like I have been away for ever. Just want to say welcome to all the new members. There are just too many pages to read.
All the new siggys and, art work are just beautiful as usual. We have the best art on this form well, that what I think.
@Traveler 64: I think your free hand painting is great and no I won't throw tomatoes at you. I can't draw worth a lick.
@ das: Your drawings of the Wraith are just as good as everyone on this thread so, don't be so hard on yourself. I can't draw at all when I try it ends up looking like a chicken did a barn dance
To all of you who are sick and feeling crappy I hope all of you will get better soon.
I saw the spoilers for 'Outsiders' and it got me worried. I said in an earlier post I really do and don't want to know about the Wraith's fate in season five.
