I've read the first few chapters but want to wait until it's finished before reading the rest. I just find it easier to keep track of things that way.

Very understandable. I find it sometimes difficult finding my way into a story anew when some time has passed since I read a chapter, that's one of the reasons why I don't read that much fanfiction.
