Sheppard has the weirdest team with two aliens a scientist a doctor and him a solider. you would think that Shep's team being on the front line and all it would be entirely US military personnel. and since Ronon held them hostage how did the IOA allow him stay in Atlantis let alone join Shep's team.

Sheppard is the only military person on his team after Season 1.

Well technically Ronon was ex-military himself just not of Earth origin.

If anyone were to be compared to McKay, it would be Carter.

Carter was also a very experienced military, McKay was kind of zero compared to that.

won't ronon still be considered military? since he didn't quit, his planet was destroyed and he was captured by the enemy for a bit.

i think the team made sense.

john: was the only earth military personal and made a great leader
teyla: was from Pegasus, had trade connections and of course was a good fighter.
mckay: as he'd gladly tell you is a great scientist and does have a habit of saving the day in the last second.
ronon: skilled fighter, knows the terrain.
