I didn't see David (whose character name is "Hunsiker" according to IMDB). Of course, things go by so fast he could've been in the background and I didn't see it. Soemtimes an actor makes the trailer even if it's a small role depending if the actor is interacting with someone primary to the plot. I didn't see John Lithgow and it seems from David's tweets and interview comments that David's scenes were with him.
You can see a very brief shot of his face in about the middle of it if I remember correctly. I saw the trailer on TV.

There's a new extended 4 minute video clip from Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Introduced by Andy Serkis, who plays the ape Caesar, this clip has scenes with John Lithgow and David Hewlett. This looks like David's big scene in the movie. And a big spoiler because this looks like a turning point in how Caesar is perceived, so don't watch it if you want to go to the movie unspoiled. Although it seems the whole movie is condensed in the latest trailer being aired.
A new clip came out today previewing some extended scenes from Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Andy Serkis, who plays Caesar, introduced the extended footage, which signals a landmark in motion-capture technology.

Checking the Syfy schedule, David Hewlett's movie "Morlocks" is finally set to air on Saturday, Sept 24, 2011 at 9pm on Syfy. Robert Picardo (Woolsey) is also in the movie.

Reason: It's the Hallmark Movie Channel, not the Hallmark Channel.
