    Wheels for SG teams?

    Think about it...

If your out scouting some planet... wouldn't you rather ride in a pack of 4-wheelers rather than hoofing it everywhere? Heck, (speaking of hoofs) I'd even rather ride horses than have to walk everywhere.

So... If you could choose... what ride would you choose for SG teams? Special Forces Dune Buggy's might be nice...

    Say yes to SG rides...!

... I should've known somebody would bring that up... Give me a break. Four 4-wheelers aren't going to crap up some other planets O-zone. Animals (cows in particular) pump out plenty of CO2... it isn't just the evil fossil-fuel cars. Earth's problem is that there are so MANY cars and industrial plants pumping it out...

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for taking care of the planet we have. Lets just not get carried away with ridiculous sentiments just because it fits our idealogical bias. After all, I did say HORSES, if you don't like combustion...

I think it's a good idea in principle, if there was enough room on planets and if the cost is justified, but id say it's unlikely from the SGC's point of view.

From my PoV, i think it's a great idea, SG-1 cruising through the gate, down the path, and along a field where they encounter some indiginous animals and locals to the planet, find a problem and solve it. Then drive home with some heavy metal playing. It's a win-win situation!!! it would be genius. so many jokes that jack could've made....... *reminiscing in the past*

What happened to the FRED MALP's? I thought they were pretty cool.
JACKSON: ...I mean isn't that why we're doing this, all of this? The Stargate program, the budget? Isn't it so we can go and meet new races, gather advanced technology and possibly learn about ourselves in the process?
VALA: Oh, come on! you do it to meet women.
MITCHELL: She has a point, sir.

With all the high tech crap the government spews out like stuff that makes cooking a meal out of a box in a microwave packet easier or helps us make that pesky three block walk a little less strenuous or useless rockets to mars that come out of our taxes and are ... like, useless, they should be able to create the perfect all terrain vehicle that runs on sink water or something.

[whisper rant]But they don't want to, see, because the Oil companies would be out on the street, poor and useless while we cruise along in environmentally safe cars. They'd rather sacrifice us instead of their pocketbooks. Heck, if we all choked to death one fine smog filled afternoon, they'd glance out of the window, pull down the blinds and continue counting their change. We should be able to drive, talk, use our cell phone, fix our makeup, see what that sharp pointy thing is under our butt, adjust the rear veiw mirror, drive handless, listen to music, curse at the SUV freak speed/cutting in front of us AND breath too. . [/whisper rant]

                *ahem*

But anyway, I think that'd be very cool for the SG team to have a special vehicle for travel. It'd help when they're running away from baddies. It could come with ammo, extra rations, batteries for whatever. Maybe they could use a kind of ZPM thing - only mini mini mini. I mean - they could do sooo much with this type of technology. But apparantly faces on Mars are more important. Kinda sad when you think about it...

You're Breaking the 4th Law!! YOU'RE BREAKING THE 4th LAW!!

I once saw a miniature dune buggy called a Moke(i think that's what they called it) in Australia. Rig it with a Naquadah fuel cell, add a DVD player so T'ealc can watch Star Wars or hook up his Playstation 4(reward for saving the Earth by Sony). Put in a Mac mini to increase productivity for Sam and digitize Daniel's reference material, they could also edit their own video on the fly and therefore cut down debriefing time. Also a lighted mirror so Sam can look Hot and extra poofy hair even during the dark hours.

heck, even bicycles would be better than walking everywhere. Even special forces have Mt. Bikes to ride sometimes. Why not SG teams?

                        I don't see why SG1 shouldn't use vehicles, even Atlantis has PJ's.

But in Atlantis, some gates are in outer space, so going through a wormhole to such a gate would mean you're dead after you exit the event horizon on the other side. That's why Atlantis uses Puddlejumpers. Most of the gates in SG-1 lead to terrestrial planets, so a vehicle of some sort usually isn't required. Though a convenience, a vehicle could also be a hinderance, too.

And in SG1, some Gates are a long way from the nearest town. (i.e. "Demons")

But also remember that some cultures thought the gate was evil, and that bad things come out of the gate. So they might have moved settlements far from the gate to help prevent "bad things coming from the gate" from reaching towns and stuff.
