What did you expect? A swordfight? The book of counted shadows says he can only defeat him with the boxes of orden. He can't just throw them at him, he had to use magic. Plus, there had been a swordfight between them already in an earlier ep. I for one think the ending of season one was done very well.

It's just a matter of opinion.

Apart from the fact that I didn't want to see him die, I think they did a great job.
And there was so much more...Kahlan loving Richard across time...and Cara turning against Rahl to save the Mord'Sith. Simply awesome.
