Daybreakers - I liked it, I found it entertaining enough. The end wasn't that great but it wasn't bad either.

Roger Ebert called it "an insult to the words "science", "fiction", and the hyphen between""A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life

Alien 3: Assembly Cut. A curious mix of superb style, atmosphere and execution, and really shoddy treatment of the established events and characters. While it served the story, Newt and Hicks being killed off so cheaply really annoyed me, and Bishop amounted to little more than a loudspeaker.
Even little things affect it negatively, like the change in sound of the Pulse Rifles, the alien behaving so differently to its predecessors, and others.
The Assembly Cut is perhaps slightly better than the theatrical release, but not really by enough. And now it's time for one last bow, like all your other selves. Eleven's hour is over now... the clock is striking Twelve's.

Personally my gut reaction to the trailers was "is this a video game? No? Are you sure? Marines shooting aliens in a big city ... you're *sure* this is a movie, and not a trailer for the latest shoot'em'up game? Seriously?" ... but my mom, of all people, wants to see it, so I guess I'll have a better idea next week!...awaiting inspiration...and time/energy/know-how!

Indeed it is. And I can't imagine anyone but Sam Rockwell being able to carry it so brilliantly"A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life
