Adrian Paul is 45 (1959). He'd be 46 before they could possibly get him in front of a camera for the next Bond movie. He might have two movies in him, but I doubt it would be much more.

Brosnan left partly because he felt he was getting too old for the role and partly because he was unhappy with the direction the franchise was taking (bigger and bigger 'boom' factor). While I believe that he could still have done one more, especially if it was a more story driven movie, I applaud his courage in saying 'enough is enough.' If only Roger Moore had done the same we would have been spared the two 'geriatric' Bond movies that finished off his run. Of course it's worth remembering that Moore said he didn't want to do any more Bond movies prior to doing both Octopussy and A View to a Kill. Both times the producers lured him back with more money. Maybe they'll do the same to Brosnan.

I don't know if my memory tricks me there, but I always saw most of the Bond girls as simply that: eye candy, girls who are not really tough but rather hide behind Bond in dangerous situations. I'm probably biased because I saw "The Man with the Golden Gun" recently... Miss Goodnight activating the solar power-whatever with her butt, nearly killing Bond and then not finding the button to de-activate it... hiding under a blanket while Bond fights the dwarf... intelligent and tough, yeah, sure

Update. It may be that Pierce Brosnan will in fact do another Bond movie. IMDB.com's WENN Movie/TV news had the following story yesterday:

Pierce Brosnan: "I Haven't Said No to Bond"

Reports that Pierce Brosnan won't return as superspy James Bond are premature - the movie star insists he's still interested in playing 007 again. Brosnan insists rumors of his retirement as Bond came about when a reporter misunderstood the actor's insistence that he no longer wanted to talk about the character in an interview. He says, "There was no announcement. I think the reporter heard it wrong. I think what I said was, 'I've had my fill of talking about Bond.' It was not an official announcement."
I personally think he has one more movie in him. Hopefully they'll tone it down a bit and do 'From Russia With Love' style movie.

If he was really doing another movie I´d think it would already be a done deal and the movie would be going ahead.

At this time point I´m afraid we are just going to have to hope that who ever they pick will be able to handle the role well.

More news. Yesterdays IMDB.com Studiobriefing had the following:

Bond Put on Hold Until 2006

Although much was made about Sony's acquisition of the James Bond franchise as part of its recent purchase of MGM, the studio confirmed Wednesday that it would not be able to deliver a new 007 movie on Nov. 18, 2005 as planned. MGM blamed the delay on its inability to find a director. It did not mention the fact that Pierce Brosnan has previously indicated that he is likely to walk away from the role. (Brosnan on Wednesday denied that he had said no to another sally as Bond; other reports have suggested that he has not been asked.) The script for the 21st Bond film has already been compleed by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who also wrote Die Another Day and The World Is Not Enough. It is said to rely more on character and intrigue than on special effects.
This looks to be official so no new Bond for another two years. This will give the producers another year to find a replacement for Brosnan. Clearly delaying the movie reduces the chance of him coming back.

Adrian Paul would do great , He is skilled in Martial arts and did Highlander ,Tracker, A Highlander Movie ect.. He has great personality and some good abilities ,experience, good actor.

Sean Connery is old and is still doing action movies like Entrapment and LXG,I think they should give Connery a role in the next movie like being Bond Senior and the new guy is Bond Jr a father and son type of movie, explains some continuity like how Bond has been around for 50 years but never aged.

I hope they do somthing different , There is so much spy spoofs out there and clones that they really need to blow us away more then just "Big Bang boom".They can start with better less rediculous characters and plots, but still some humour.I want to see more low tech Macgyver style tricks enough these hightech brainless gadgets *except those xray sun glasses that lets you see through peoples clothes*.
                  The Egyptian Cat God .

No, my favorite is Goldfinger, followed by License to Kill, then From Russia With Love.

It looks like it's official. Brosnan will not play Bond in the next installment of the 007 franchise.

                      IMDB.com's Studiobriefing had this yesterday:

Brosnan Says Bond Producers Aren't Interested in Him Anymore

Pierce Brosnan's days as James Bond are over. Appearing to end speculation about whether he will return to the role, Brosnan has told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet: "I had a contract for four Bond films. ... I did them and told them that I'd like to continue. But suddenly, in the middle of negotiations, they changed their minds. They said that they weren't interested any more. I was shocked, perplexed. I loved Bond. He's given me so much, mostly a face out in the international market. Afterwards, I was happy. Now it feels like a relief."
I am a little surprised that the producers just wrote him off like that. Most likely he was asking for more money then they were willing to pay. They may also have been unhappy with his, supposedly misquoted, interview where he said he did not want to do another Bond movie. Those kind of 'negotiate in the media' tricks have a way of backfiring.

So it looks as if we can look forward to at least several more months of speculations as to who will be the next Bond. Stay tuned for more

Time for an update on this topic.

The producers have said that a new Bond movie will be going ahead in 2006. It seems that it will be Casino Royale after all, but without Tarantino involved.

Today's WENN news at http://imdb.com now reports that Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon (who'll also be playing Dr. Doom in this summers FF movie) is one of two 'finalists' for the gig. Who the otherfinalist is is not known, but WENN speculates that it is Clive Owen.

For my $.02, I think McMahon would probably be pretty good as Bond. I haven't watched Nip/Tuck, but I've seen him in a few things, and he certainly has the Bond 'look.' As for his acting abilities, well, he kept me watching Charmed for probably about one more season then I would otherwise have... a really strong performance (for someone on Charmed anyway). nothing like Bond maybe, but still promising.

Ultimately I'm just happy that they are leaning towards getting a relatively unknown actor for the role.

I'm not really familiar with Clive Owen, so I can't comment on him much.

I'm also partial to McMahon, I liked him on "Charmed" but he's better on "Nip/Tuck". Don't know Clive Owen either, despite the fact that he's done some movies you could/should know (according to his filmography - "Gosford Park", "King Arthur", "The Bourne Identity", "Closer"). Which is a lot more movie experience than McMahon has, I guess.

First I've heard anything about McMahon. I've avoided Nip Tuck like the plague and haven't caught much of Charmed!

No way McMahon for me, I think he doesn't have that British sensibility, plus he's too much of a baddie and troublemaker on TV series...

Clive Owen would be a far better choice. Dramatic chops, intensity, and roguish charm. Too bad last night at the Academy Awards, he denied even talking to the producers about James Bond.

While I think McMahon is an interesting choice, I'm not sure if I'm ready to hear his fake British accent. Maybe if chosen, he will surprise me.
