    Babylon 5
    Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

    ^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

    AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

        Someone listened and started one when I was too lazy. Good job.

        Odyssey 5. I finally got a friend of mine to watch the show, he was hooked and watched all 20 episodes in less than 2 days. After the final he asked "Where's the next tape?" and I went "That's it, that's how it ends".

        Dumbass Showtime.

          * SG-1/SGA
          * Farscape (only within the last year have I grown to love the show more thanks to Starburst edition DVDs...I can afford to buy the seasons now)
          * Andromeda
          * DS9 & Voyager
          * SeaQuest (minus 3rd season)
          * The Dead Zone
          * BSG (new)
          * The 4400
          * Blade
          * Eureka

          Too many to pick just one. These are the Best of the Best in my opinion.

              My top three would be:

              SG-1
              Farscape
              BSG-new series

              There are plenty of other great series out there but IMO listing them all somehow makes the top ones less special.

                Excluding the Gates my favourites are:

                Firefly
                ST TNG
                ST ENT
                Science Fiction is an existential metaphor; it allows us to tell stories about the human condition.

                Isaac Asimov once said individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.

                      Hm...
                      Firefly
                      Babylon 5
                      FarScape
                      nBSG

                      Also love(d) Odyssey 5, Buffy, Angel(if those last two count as sci-fi. They are more Sci-fantasy). And I guess I can tolerate SG1 and SGA even though I find they are very lacking in the story department, waaaaaaaaay too many stand alones.

                        Nope, neither is Angel. Which is why I didn't vote for either. They're fantasy, not sci-fi.

                          Star Trek: TOS
                          Farscape (not the mini series - never saw that).

                          And why is Buffy considered sci-fi? I always thought it was fantasy.

                            Also, don't quite get Firefly making people's lists since it only last half a season.

                                Its impossible to explain, but its just a fantastic show IMO, it could have run for years had Fox given it a chance to find its feet.
                                Equality is not a concept. It's not something we should be striving for. It's a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women. And the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who is confronted with it.
