Nightmare of Eden: Navigator's criminal case

In any plot of many inevitably left behind the scenes, especially in the series, where each episode - is another story. In particular this applies to the secondary characters. But for the attentive audience scattered everywhere, "pieces of the puzzle," which, if desired, can be assembled in a very complete picture, which will look at the "fabric" of several different angle. Let's try to do an "investigation" by the example of a series of "Nightmare of Eden" and to clarify the question solely detective: is navigator Secker guilty?
    Secker.jpg
Let's start with the most important - and the most obvious: the intersection of two ships is not a casual slip by navigator-addict’s, a deviation from the course was focused. Of course, no one imagined that one ship is inside the other - this seems to be really a coincidence - but get close enough to Trist could send data Dimond, they were supposed to. At first glance, it serves as the "iron" proof of Secker' guilt: he served as an indication smuggler. Secker’s interest determined by his drug addiction.
At first glance, it's strange: how can somebody to trust something an addict? On the other hand, this method of "agree" seems to be more reliable than bribery, such as "bought": the navigator, God forbid, require an increase in fees will blackmail - and a dose of a drug addict will do - and the more he does not need anything. But when Secker became a drug addict?
It is unlikely that long ago. The people who work on the spaceships must regularly check the status of health, if Secker for a long time something was wrong - he would be discovered and removed him from his work, therefore - he got carried away vraxoin recently. By narcotic "seniority" navigator we'll come back, but for now ponder how these two found each other?
Trist had lucky with their goods get on the ship, where was navigator-addict? Hardly - too improbable luck. Secker was a regular Trist - and one sighting boarded the ship, where he worked? Maybe, but it's not the same on every ship he had on the addict to the navigator, indeed! It was necessary to the area where he was to meet with Dimond, went exactly the ship, where Trist’s client runs - it also requires a certain set of circumstances, to rely on is not worth it:-match does not match ... No smuggler need something more reliable! And the most reliable - aiming to create "drug puppet" of the ship's navigator on which to fly.
When Trist could do it? According to the captain, he "picked up at Station 9" - the wording suggests that the question of the place to "Empress" for Trist has been decided the last minute. Consequently, he could "plant" Secker only directly during the flight!
Nothing impossible in this assumption is not - we saw in the case of Captain Rigg as rapid degradation of man under the influence of vraxoin: the first dose - intoxication - in about an hour already severe withdrawal symptoms, and the one who has a drug, a person can get up to all what it wants. How does Trist "tucked" navigator? Proposed to"try"? Hardly ... Of course, there are people who come across this - but suddenly Secker would fall? Trist had not time to get to know him, to study his character. And if he will not get - perhaps the captain will report ... no, it had to play it safe - to the "client" is guaranteed to received a dose ... it's best to do this without the knowledge of the client - to pour into a glass! In an enclosed space spacecraft this is not difficult, and how wonderful it is "working" - again we have seen with the captain (and a glass of something it's not intended!).
How come no one in the crew did not notice the changes since Secker? After all, it was evident: fatuous smile on his face, impaired motor coordination, inadequate judgment ... Doctor, who first saw him, drew attention, but colleagues and bosses - no ...
They do not say anything about the relationships within the crew, so we use the principle of "What is priest, is the parish" and take a closer look to the "priest" - meaning, to Captain Rigg. And here it is appropriate to recall another proverb: "What a sober mind - then drunk on language," for the reverse pattern works too: the language of a drunkard's exactly what the mind of a sober! Obviously, in the heart respected Capitan Rigg really believes that the death of the passengers from economy class - it's not terrible ... here are of such people character of "Meeting Place Can not Be Changed" says: "For him, the people is a garbage!" Subordinates to Rigg, perhaps not so much " garbage" as economy class passengers, but "walking function" - specifically (by the way, the functional relationship to subordinates (on the principle of "Why died - I did not give such an order") - is not an uncommon strain of professional managers). Dead navigator for him - the "problem", but not loss. If the whole atmosphere in the crew of "Empress" was such - it is not surprising that a man was slowly dying in front of everyone - and no one noticed.
Either way, Secker’s fate was sealed: playing a role, he became a unnecessary and even dangerous for Trist- maybe his colleagues are inconsiderate, but not blind, in fact, sooner or later something will be notice and they’ll wonder where Secker took vraxoin. This begs the question: Do not let Trist animals deliberately - in order to organize accident for Secker? In addition, and the circumstances were successful: the intersection of ships - so convenient to blame everything on some abstract "energy," but if someone else will be hurted- well, that's not such a big sacrifice for the good of science ... However, no evidence, and assumptions without evidence can not be accusations and allegations Trist are enough.
So there was our "puzzle": the charges against the navigator Secker can be removed! He is a victim, the victim not only of criminals but also of human indifference. To top it off, along with the life he lost a good name: for him - dead - surely will dump all that can topple.
